Future Tense (Epilogue)

Author's Note:Not a What a if! This represents my interpretation of the fate of the Phoenix Gate.

As the skiff disappears into the mist of Avalon the Puck appears in a flash of light with the Phoenix Gate clutched tightly his hands looking onward in their direction a triumphant grin upon his face waving farewell to them. When suddenly he begins to giggle, which suddenly bursts into a full cackle.
"What fools these mortals be, especially that particular mortal." Then more sedately, while holding the gate up in the air admiringly. "It's almost insulting that he could think that he could keep this beauty away from the likes of me in the time steam." Puck then gently caressess the gate.
"But then again you do mean a lot to me. With you I might just be able to buy my freedom from Lord Oberon, then I can have so much fun!" Transforming his clothes into a police uniform for a few moments, standing as stiff as a board.
"Freeze you under arrest!"
Suddenly as if remembering an appointment he pulls a watch from his pocket and looks at it. "Oh, look at the time." He quickly reverts back to his normal clothes.
"I still have so much to do, if I don't finish up soon then Oberon will send his hounds out for me." A look of terror comes over his face. "And that would be very bad for me." Holding up the Phoenix Gate admiringly again. "I doubt even you would be able to save me then."
Another flash of light and the Puck disappears only to reappear in a small ordinary looking bedroom. "Ho Hum! Time to get back to work"
With that his feature begin to blur, then melt, and finally reform into the image Owen Burnett. The personal sevant of David Xanatos. He then puts the gate on the night stand next to his bed and as he is leaving he turns back and says to the gate in a dull tone of voice, but with a Puckish gleam in his eye.
"Now don't go away I'll be right back." Letting a hint of sadness creep in. "I hope!"
With that Owen turns to leave the room. Knowing full well that if anything goes wrong and he can not get back to Avalon with the Phoenix Gate soon, then it will become a useless trinket to him and remain where it is for a long time to come.
