And the Stairs Came A'tumbling Down
Characters are not owned by me, nor is any profit being made off this drabble.
I wanted to start my Emergency! Fan fiction with a longer, more dramatic story. This is what you get instead.
Marco Lopez was on the nozzle, Chet Kelly backing him as they laboriously hauled the hose up to the second floor.
Marco took another step and felt the stairs quiver ominously. Time to get out, he decided. He turned to Chet, his backup. "Out!" he shouted. The mask muffled his voice, but his sweeping gesture, combined with the shuddering stairs conveyed the message clearly.
Marco shut off the nozzle as Chet dropped the hose and fled. Marco was on his heels for two steps, but then the stairs came a'tumbling down.
The next thing Marco knew, he was looking up at the ruins of the stairs. There was water coming in from ground level and from above. He could hear 51's paramedics hunting for him.
"Marco!" bellowed Gage.
*I'm right here, estupido!* Marco thought.
"Marco!" bellowed DeSoto.
Obviously it was too noisy to hear themselves think, much less hear what Marco was thinking. They'd never hear him through his mask, either.
"MARCO!" bellowed Gage and DeSoto.
He couldn't stand it anymore. He ripped off his face mask and roared back. "POLO!"
