Matt's POV

It was late, really late. I'll admit I was supposed to be asleep at four in the morning. But I couldn't help that I was a videogame addict. I mean I could, I just didn't help myself.

My current situation was simple. I was playing minecraft, which had just come out a couple days back, in Mello and I's room. The dark and stuffy atmosphere made it perfect to envision the sense of the deep cave I was currently mining in.

I usually wasn't into all the superstitions about the paranormal. Never, really. Roger kept us away from anything of the sort. Maybe so he didn't have to deal with kids running into his room and complain about being scared all the time. But it's different when you're Mello's friend. Who if you didn't know, steals DVD's from god knows where. Narnia or some place. I've seen many things from the stuff he had brought back. From decapitated zombies, to humans walking around possessed, trust me. It was enough to scare a little kid like Near to the point of peeing his pants.

But tonight I found myself a bit paranoid. The last movie we had watched was about a man with no eyes, walking around and killing people whenever he heard the slightest breath. Of course I didn't think I would be paranoid in minecraft.

I felt as if someone or something could come up and knock me into the boiling lava in front of me. The game had only been out for a couple days, but after reading into the possibility of a hacker or mob being in a server, there was no doubt people were addicted to this game.

Mello's light and peaceful snoring just fueled my senses. Now it felt like eyes were burning into the back of my head, and a eery feeling came from the game in front of me. It wasn't fun anymore. It was more like...disturbing to me.

Now, I know why.

Apparently there was speculation going around about a hacker going into servers and disturbing the peace in private servers used by regular players, like me. This was unsettling, mostly because this player of some sort, looked like he had no eyes. It was disturbing. More than disturbing. The white glare where his eyes were supposed to be. It was like something coming back to me and getting revenge.

While scrolling through the many pictures of spottings, I found that he likes to push people in lava. Which is what I was near.

"Okay, I guess this isn't a peaceful nighttime game anymore…" I mumbled to myself as I turned my laptop off, sliding it onto the floor. The one thing I hoped for was to not start seeing things. But even that didn't last long. In the corner of the dark room, there was a small puppet Near had left in here while tormenting Mello like usual. Unfortunately, it wasn't a finished puppet. There it laid with no eyes.

"DAMMIT WHAT'S UP WITH NO EYES!" I cursed rather loudly, jumping out of bed and quickly scurrying into Mello's. It seems I had woken him up somewhere in between my worry, because a small laugh echoed through the room. This wasn't amusing.

"Matty, maybe I shouldn't show you scary movies" He rolled over to face me directly, with a sly smiled showing. Did he plan this somehow?

If he did, I would definitely get him back for this. Maybe by taking his chocolate away? No, I'm not even sure how he could've caused this.

"That scary movie didn't scare me. You're just tired"

"I was awake this whole time, Matt. What's the big deal with getting scared over a game?"

"But he's scary!" My voice now sounded like a little toddler that hadn't hit puberty. Wow, why was this getting to me? Mello's voice was no longer comforting to me anymore. All I wanted was for the warm, yellow sun to shine through the small window on my side of the room.

"Okay whatever. You know instead of staying up all night playing video games maybe you should sleep with me"
