Forgotten Whispers.
You know the drill, it don't belong to me!
Somewhere in the castle, hidden away in the intertwined hubbub of noise and students, there's an old, abandoned classroom. Draped with the lacy curtain of dust and deathly silence, it lies waiting to be used.
The quiet extends to every corner, and gives everything it touches an air of almost petrified stillness. Even me.
I'm waiting too. Almost forgotten but still here somehow. I must be alive in someone. I'm a walking imprint, a mere memory, but I can still feel.
Every now and then students will walk past the thick panes of glass, chatting, in the winter their breath making clouds behind them. I ache for it. To be alive like they are, or just… to be gone. This is no life, what I have now.
Occasionally they'll stumble inside, look around, and then leave. The living don't like it here. I think it reminds them too much of the unknown, the unspeakable. They live their ignorant lives with their unimportant problems. Even problems that seem big. Like the dark lord.
The potter boy. It's on all their lips. I see it and hear it and feel it all around. They're on edge. They care, it matters to them. The biggest thing in the wizarding world.
Once, he came here. By accident, him and his friends. Friends. It sounds strange, after so many years unsaid, not even thought. They hurried in, and then it hit me. Their emotions. Their power. I could almost taste it on them. It didn't need to listen to the words they said. I felt fear. Desperate, clawing fear. Especially on the tall boy. It clung to him. Something else was there too. Something gentler…like love. The girl had it too. It burnt and fizzled in the air between them like a firecracker. But Potter, now Potter was different. His eyes, of a deep green colour, suggested power, awesome power.
There is a line between good and evil. It might not be a straight line but it's there. I know which side Potter was on. I longed to tell him. Warn him? Maybe. Maybe I just wanted to tell someone what I knew. This was what was keeping me here, on Earth. The secret, this burden.
I was long past being visible, but maybe he could hear me. I shouted, I screamed. Louder and louder! I had to let him know, I had to! They froze. All three of them. What was that? Their faces wide. Nothing, said the tall boy. Then they left.
I was alone. I still am alone. They'll find out one day. They're bound too. When they do they'll wish they listened to me.
What once were my shouts are now forgotten whispers. But I'm beginning to care less.
Odd but.. oh well! It's been done. Lol
