Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "No Sleep for Cranky" from Season 6, with added lines by tate310. Enjoy and comment.

Brendam Docks is the busiest dockyard on the Island of Sodor. Everyone is busy there day and night.

But poor Cranky the Crane never gets a nap. He works all day and night!

His only company is seagulls at night, so he's always cranky.

One day, Salty showed up.

"Ahoy there Cranky!" he said.

"Where have you been!" snapped Cranky.

Then, Bill and Ben arrived, full of mischief.

"Hurry up!" snapped Cranky. "I haven't got all day!"

"You're no fun!" grumbled Bill.

"You wouldn't have fun if you were stuck up here without your twin!" snapped Cranky.

"So that's why you're cranky!" said Ben.

"You're lonely!" said Bill.

"I'm not!" snapped Cranky.

"So you need some company?" asked Salty. "Well, let me tell you a sea story!"

"NO!" yelled Cranky.

"Can we please stay here and hear the story.?" asked the twin engines.

So Salty began his story.

This made Cranky very cranky, so he dropped the pipes near Salty, causing a shed to fall down, and trapping the engines!

"Oops." said Cranky, "that was my mistake."
"You're gonna get in trouble!" sang Bill and Ben.

Sir Topham Hatt was in his office, getting measured for a new suit.

When he heard the news, he left immediately for the docks.

"You have caused confusion and delay!" called Sir Topham Hatt over a mega-phone to Cranky.

"I'm sorry sir." whispered Cranky.

"All of you will have to stay here until Harvey clears this mess up in the morning."

Cranky's heart sank.

"That reminds me of another story!" said Salty.

So all night long, Salty told lots of stories about the sea.

The next morning, Harvey arrived to clear the mess.

Cranky was so pleased, that he forgot to be Cranky.

"I'll never misbehave again!" he promised, "as long as I don't have to hear any more of Salty's sea stories.

Cranky worked hard the rest of the day. He carefully loaded the freight onto the cars, and everyone was very pleased.

"This is new." puffed Thomas.

But Cranky was soon back to his own ways.

"Oh well, it was nice while it lasted," sighed Percy, and all the engines laughed.

Cranky didn't laugh. He was still cranky.
