GENERAL NOTE: This will help you understand something we've recieved a question about. Yes, Q-Chan is D's grandfather, but actually in the manga he is often called a girl. We called Q-Chan a girl in this because that is what they say "she" is until D finds out it's his grandfather. A good example of this would be in Manga 8, page 142 in the chapter "Deja Vu." Though, of course, this isn't the only time they call him a girl! Thank you!
Rea: Just a little oneshot!
Len: Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it.
Do Let's:
"Happy Thanksgiving, D." Leon said, entering the shop with a bouquet of fall-colored flowers and a bag. Roses and Lilies were put up to D's face and he set his tea down to except them.
"How thoughtful, Leon." He said, getting up to put them in water. "You do realize that this is a large cultural difference for the two of us, though."
"The Chinese don't have Thanksgiving?" Leon asked, obviously thinking this was insane.
D stared. Then he sighed an angry sigh "You have NO sense of culture! Thanksgiving is an American holiday. It was founded when the Native Americans, who you confined to reservations later, and the new settlers from Britain made friends for a while. Later on, of course, the friendship easily died."
"Oh, right..." Leon scratched his head. "Common, D! You were happy to have the flowers."
D stared at them a while. "I was until I realized you had no idea I don't celebrate thanksgiving."
"Well, D," Leon said with a wicked smile, "I don't think it will stop you from taking this brown-sugar Thanksgiving cake made to look like a turkey." Leon pulled a fall-decorated cake box from the bag with two glasses and bottle of cider.
"Oh, my! Leon, you shouldn't have!" D snatched the cake from him nonetheless and began to cut pieces for both of them.
"Cider?" Leon offered with a smile. "I thought we'd do something different?"
"Do let's." D said, clearing the tea from the table.
Leon looked around after he and D were settled with cider and cake. "Where's the rest of the shop?" He asked, referring to the animals.
"The shop is closed today. T-Chan is in the back sleeping. In fact, many of the animals are."
"Where's Q-Chan?"
D smiled at Leon. He had, after all, gotten the name right. "I don't know. She leaves every once and a while. She'll turn up soon. I was a bit worried about her earlier, but I can't imagine she left for good."
Leon nodded. "Then...you're closed today?"
"Yes, My Dear Detective."
"The shop doors were open." Leon pointed out. He knew the response before D said it.
"They were open for you, My Darling." He sipped his cider delicately.
"Then....I think we should have a toast to good sex." Leon said hopefully, raising his glass in the air.
"Do lets." D said, and the glasses clinked.
Len: Hope you liked it!
Rea: Please review! But maybe you should look at the general note, just so we're all clear on why we called Q-Chan a girl. We just don't want to get anymore confused reviewers! Ah, Len! You took part in the notes!
Len: Holiday spirit, damn you! And she's right. I hate it when a story comes across as confusing! I wish I could just explain in the story why, but in this D still didn't know about her!
Rea: He was just really upset about it...We're really sorry it was confusing! Thanks for reading!
