Suzaku was actually worried.
Well, he was worried a lot, but then again…He was more worried now than he'd been in a long time.
Why? Well, it had been almost a year since Lelouch's death, and he still felt…empty inside. Like a part of his soul vanished with the prince. Odd, right?
And this Zero thing…He didn't know if he could take it anymore. Shouldn't the task get passed on to someone else, now that his part was over?
Japan was safe, the world was doing much better than it had been a few years ago…So why must he still be Zero? Suzaku sighed, sitting before Lelouch's grave. It was tiny, but not so tiny that you would just pass it by.
No, it was a pretty good sized headstone, with the standard writing like all other gravestones in the graveyard. But, unlike the other stones, Suzaku had kept Lelouch's beautiful. Adorned with flowers and simple things…Things people would remember as nice when they went out to see their loved ones.
Zero/Suzaku sat there, thinking about his best friend, how his hand had caressed his face before falling limp…The Knight suddenly jerked out of his thoughts, eyes wide. "Who's there?" He'd felt a pressure on him, like he was being watched. Someone followed him? But who? Why? He was dressed in a disguise…Not like anyone would notice him anyhow.
"Who's there?" he called again, standing. It was dark out, and he was alone in the graveyard. No one else was there…Right? Suzaku stood in a defensive position, ready to defend himself, when his neck prickled.
"Hello, Suzaku."
The teen turned around to face something he wasn't sure he could face. Lelouch, standing before him?
No, although he wished many times it were the kid. No, it was C.C.
"Hey, C.C. Been a while."The Knight turned around fully, managing a smile. The green-haired girl didn't smile back, but took Suzaku's hand and looked him in the eyes.
"I hear you're depressed still." She muttered in her usual, nonchalant way. The teen merely looked at her, as if not knowing what she meant.
"Err…yeah. I guess I am…" Why would C.C., of all people, be here to tell him that? That's when she did it.
She gave Suzaku a smile and whispered, "He's not really dead. You are very gullible." Then she was off, walking away as if nothing groundbreaking had just occurred. But Suzaku was having a freak out.
"Lelouch isn't dead? Who did I kill? Where is he?" The Knight called, but the girl was too far out of sight, and he was too stunned to catch her.
The search was on.
But, would he, Zero, be able to find Lelouch?
