Before Anything Else.
The deepest darkest part of the room was the center. Like a black hole just daring you to come closer. Like it had so much to hide from you. Never could they, the three little thinned, hallowed out and damaged mice- I mean teenagers, imagined what they would find on their journey. It was scary to say the least, at times so ridiculous it was funny, and as they pushed open the door they found the one emotion that kept coming back. Sheer astonishment.

A gasp escaped the girls mouth as she started to lower her wand.

The boy beside her nudged her in the ribs,

"Don't do that!" he whispered harshly at her. She raised her wand again, very reluctantly, and stepped forward.

"Harry, it-its..." she trailed off walking further in to the room, her feet stopped at the beginning of a stone throne. The milky marble was interrupted by flaming red hair, flowing so long it barely touched the floor. Even redder than some of the rubies encrusted at her fingertips.

"It a bloody girl!" the second boy exclaimed, his mouth hung open. He walked slowly up and came to stand next to the other girl they were careful not to get to close or touch her. She was slouched over in the chair like she was sleeping, the veil that was so strategically placed on her head, looked oddly disturbed. Just beneath the veil was the shine of wet, red lips, which popped on her silky face.

"Be careful, I think this is the next-" the boy at the door began to speck as the girls head slowly moved.

She shook her head as if in a bad dream, her breath could be heard shuddering out.

"Is it …you?" Her sweet voice was soft, but worried.

"Is it who?" asked the intruding girl,

"Hermione…" the boys said in unison, she gave them stern looks. The lips moved again but was a bare whisper. The girl, Hermione, bent closer to hear.

Their faces were so close almost too close, the girls eyes slowly opened. Hermione jumped in surprise. The girl moved her head to look at them straight as the veil slipped off her head like silk on water. The boy at the door walked up strongly; Harry stood infront of her wand ready.

"Thank…you, I'm…wake now. So long stuck, repeating constantly." Her words struck like cold wind along their skins.

"Your it, aren't you?" Harry asked, looking oddly dumb struck. She stood up from the chair in one smooth motion, a smile played her face. That all knowing smile that said 'You've got a long way so go.'

"I think its time I make a sacrifice, for me. For once." It was like her words were a pill to slow down time. Harry slowly blinked, barely having time to take in her pill and digest it. She grasped her chilling hand around Harry's and pointed his wand to her chest. There was no hesitation in either of their eyes.

"Even though I'm the sacrifice, you wont try for me?" she whispered out. And a split second later the worst words to ever hit his mouth bled out.

"Avada Kedavra."

This was a short one-shot. I finished reading the half-blood prince for the second time in prep for the deathly hallows, and this came to mind so... here it is!!!
