New Story. Why? Why not? First try at slice of life and school stuff.

Better With You

Chapter 1

Percy Jackson. He was tall, with ocean-green eyes, with the black hair. His arms, they were muscular. He was apart of the swim team. He was not that great at academics, but he was able to get high enough grades to remain on the swim team, as well as possibly graduating. All of the girls admired him and most of them wanted to date him as well have sex with him. He was popular around the boys, and most of the boys would jump him just to get near him. All of his friends, which were a few, all had girlfriends. He was perhaps the most popular guy in the school.

Oh, and did I mention that he was a player?

He didn't sleep with girls. At least that Percy understood. A girl's first time should be with someone special. Not...just to have sex with the most popular and hottest guy in the school. Last I heard, girls begged him to have sex with them. The hottest girls. The popular girls. They even threw off their clothes, some even got naked, and yet, Percy still refused to have sex with them. The only thing he did with them was date and dump.

With each girl he dated and dumped, the more he got hated, but also, the more popular he got. The girls that he dated were heartbroken, and they cried. Percy did nothing about it. He merely went to another girl. And yet...the girls that got dumped still attempted to be with him. They were hopelessly lost by him. No matter how many times he ignored their feelings...they still loved him.

I can understand it. I can understand their feelings.

After all...

I loved him.

My name, is Annabeth Chase.

This is my story.

*Scene*

The sound of school flooded my ears. My grey eyes strained against the sun, as I looked up from my book to look outside my mom's car. I rather liked reading. It kept me calm. My blonde princess curls flowed downwards to my mid breast. I was skinny, but not too skinny. I was to say, average.

I was the school nerd, only sticking my nose into books, and studying to get straight As. Whenever someone saw me, my nose was in a book. Even at lunch, I was reading while eating, never taking my nose out of a book.

It was the first day of school after summer. We were finally back at school, after a whole summer of not seeing my friends. I looked around, and spotted jet black spiky hair. I jogged toward the hair.

"Thalia!"

Thalia Grace turned around, and I saw her punkness. Was that even a word? Probably not. Anyway, Thalia had lightning blue eyes, and her hair was spiked up into a punk look. She wore a black leather jacket, with chains dangling around. Her black jeans were torn around the knees.

"Annabeth!" She smiled at me. "How have you been?"

We shared a sisterly hug.

We pulled apart, and I smiled.

"I've been good."

Thalia wrapped an arm around me. "That's good!" She said. "Let's go find Rachel!"

We went around for a couple of minutes, attempting to find the redhead girl.

"There!"

We saw a head of red, and we ventured over. We tapped her shoulder, and the redhead turned around.

Rachel Elizabeth Dare, with her freckles and green eyes. Her jeans were splattered in paint, as was her white shirt. She smiled at both Thalia and Annabeth. "Annabeth! Thalia! It's nice to see you two. How was your guys' summer."

"It was great." Thalia chirped.

I nodded in agreement.

Us three have been best friends since forever. I couldn't remember a time when I didn't have these two in my life.

They have been with me my entire life.

Before they heard the roar of a motorcycle. Everyone turned to the streets, as a black 2017 Yamaha FZ6R rode onto the side of the street. The male on the motorcycle killed the engine, and then stepped out. He took off the helmet, freeing his long black hair. He peered at the crowd, and Annabeth had to calm down the flush that went up her cheeks. His green eyes scanned the crowd, before walking toward the school. Everyone made way for him.

He strode along confidently. I looked at his chest, the way his black muscle shirt strained against his chest, the skinny dark gray jeans the wrapped around his legs. Every time he moved, his legs would flex, and whenever he lifted his arm to scratch the back of his head, his biceps would flex. Whatever he did, it displayed his toned body that all girls drooled over. Me included. Except the drooling part. I just stare at him from a distance, trying not to get thoughts about him. It didn't work though. I still get thoughts about him.

And then he disappeared inside, leaving everyone staring. Before the world started again, where everyone was not staring at Percy Jackson. I felt someone shaking my shoulder, and I turned to see Thalia.

"Annabeth!" When she saw I had my attention, she rose her arms up in frustration. "That was the tenth time I called your name."

"Sorry." I grumbled. "I was just thinking."

"Thinking about Percy Jackson, the badboy and player of the school." She growled.

"It wasn't." I replied.

"Yes it was! That's why you were staring after him like a long lost lover."

"No I wasn't." I insisted.

She gave a look that told me that she wasn't buying anything I was saying. "Look Annie, I don't want you to get hurt by him. Yeah sure, you may like him. But he is bad news. He is trouble. You know how many girls he dated? More than ninety percent of the female population of this school. We are among the few that Percy hasn't dated yet."

I frowned. I knew it was true...and yet...I still liked him. I couldn't get him out of my head.

"Let's go." I said. "It's a good thing we both have our homeroom together."

"Yeah." Thalia nodded, before she turned to Rachel.

Only for Rachel to have disappeared.

"Weird." Thalia said. Before she shrugged. "She probably went to the art room. She does have art first doesn't she?"

I nodded in conformation. "Yeah."

*Scene*

Turns out. Rachel didn't go to the art room.

We found her right outside our first class. We found it weird that she was there, only to notice that she was talking to someone. Her green eyes shined with unknown emotions, as she continued to talk, not noticing us nearing closer and closer.

I had to hold in a gasp when the person she was talking to. And the person she was talking to noticed us too. He stood up straight, as he said loudly. "I hate to break this up Rachel, but your friends are here."

Rachel turned toward Thalia and I, and she pursed her lips. She frowned afterwards, and said, "Okay."

She left for the art room, while Percy stayed where he was. He merely stared at me. And Thalia and I stared at him back. "Well Percy? Aren't you going to go to your homeroom?" Thalia practically snarled at him.

Percy blinked at her. "I am? This is my homeroom."

Thalia and I looked at each other in disbelief. "Fuck." She cursed.

"Language." Percy snapped.

We blinked at him, not expecting him to be offended by the language.

"Whatever." Thalia rolled her eyes.

I decided to go for a more...polite approach. I removed my feelings for Percy. I can already feel everyone's gaze at me, wondering what the nerd was doing so close to the player, the badboy.

"Your schedule?" I demanded, my hand out.

Percy fished it out, and for a second, I thought that Percy was nothing but a normal school boy. But I removed my head from the thoughts. No way was Percy just another student. He would never focus on education. He would rather go for girls.

Our fingers connected, and I pulled my hand away. My eye twitched, as I peered at his schedule.

Before I blinked. And I reread it.

"Oh my..." I put my hand against my face, as I handed him back his schedule. "You have to be kidding me..."

"What's wrong Annie?" Thalia asked.

I looked at Percy with squinted eyes. "I guess I have to deal with you all day. Why did my luck have to be so bad that I had to have Percy Jackson in all of my classes? Jackson, don't do anything funny to me during any of our classes."

Percy cocked his head to the side. "Why would I do anything to you? You don't interest me at all. I'll be seeing you later Chase." He moved to a different spot of the classroom, and started to talk with a couple of girls, who tried to frantically fix their hair. They played with their clothes, and fidgeted, not believing that the Percy Jackson was talking to them.

He reached out and cupped one of her cheeks, and whispered something softly that made her cheeks flush into a deep crimson red.

I should be glad that he had no interest in me.

And yet, those words gave me a heavy pain in my heart.

I was plain. Average. Nothing special about me. Percy didn't find me interesting in the slightest.

Nothing ever hurt me more than that.

*Scene*

The bell rang, signaling the end of the first class. It felt like forever, and yet, we barely finished our first class. That meant I had to have 5 more classes with Percy. I hoped that I can avoid him during lunch.

I spotted him exiting out the door, and I followed him silently. After all, we had all of our classes together, so the only free time I had without him near me was during lunch, but even I wasn't sure if I can avoid him. He always popped out of nowhere, flirting with another girl, before they disappeared elsewhere.

I walked past him as he stopped to talk to his friends. He had very few, despite being the most popular. The only person that can rival him in popularity was Luke Castellan.

Luke Castellan was a rival of Percy's. They fought over everything. Every little thing too. They were like an old married couple. Except they weren't old. Or married. Or gay. Both of them were players, but Luke was the one of the two to sleep with girls. Percy only dated and dumped, while Luke had flings with perhaps every girl. Most girls flaunt to Percy, but the ones that actually wanted to have that went to Luke.

Anyway, I took a peek over my shoulder to look at Percy's friends.

I knew them from elementary, but we stopped talking every since they joined Percy.

But the thing that was different from Percy to other popular kids was the fact that Percy treated his friends as friends, not as minions to obey their every command. They were like brothers. Anyone can see it just by looking at them.

There was Charles Beckendorf. He was a tall, dark skinned guy. He and his father owned an automobile shop that was popular in the town. He worked there every day after school. His black eyes seemed to look at everyone as if they were not humans, but machines.

There was Nico di Angelo, cousin of Thalia Grace. As much as Thalia hated to admit, Nico was a cool guy. He wore black clothing, and had long black hair. His black jeans were torn, and his black shirt had a skull on it. He had a silver ring on his finger, and whenever he got nervous, he would always twist the ring.

And that was it. Just the three of them.

They were a small group. And yet, their bond was strong.

I sighed and shook my head.

This was going to be a long year.
