Never Meant to Be

Fiery golden eyes met deep cerulean ones. In just a few short days, the two lovers had forged a bond that would follow them forevermore. They could not remain together- indeed, in the following weeks, they would probably be required to fight one another. Perhaps it was better that way. One was a waterbender, one a firebender; their very natures contradicted each other. Surely they would destroy each other eventually, the way water and fire inevitably will. Indeed, it may have been better that way.

Then again, perhaps not.

"Will I ever see you again?" the waterbender whispered.

"Take care that you don't, or else we may be forced to harm one another." Their love must forever remain secret, lest their families find out and disown them. A noise sounded nearby, followed by a series of footsteps.

"You must go," the firebender whispered. "Wear these clothes and leave through the back of my tent."

The waterbender unfolded the black cloak. "Thank you. I hope that we may have better fortune in our next lives and somehow find each other…"

Then it was a quick but passionate kiss, a promise to always remember one another.

"I love you," the firebender said softly.

"Forever," the waterbender promised, then slipped unseen into the night.

When she was far enough away, Katara turned to look back. She would never truly live after tonight; she had left her heart with the golden-eyed firebender in the middle of an enemy camp.

"I will see you again, my love, my Azula…"

A/N: Yes, it's crack, and parody. No, I don't ship Kazula/Azutara. It's supposed to parody all the "forbidden love" Zutara things. *erects concrete and lead sheild* R&R
