At Dusk
Jerza week: prompt 'Sunset.' Sorry this is lame, I was too rushed for anything better.
It was calm and peaceful for Erza when the day was almost over. A light breeze swept over the clifftops, flowers were showing off their last bit of colour before fully closing away for the night and the sky was staining the most beautiful mix of colours she'd ever seen. She saw pink, orange, blue and the parts furthest away from her going black, revealing the stars to her. It was truly a lovely evening, and Erza was enjoying the contentment she felt just sitting there with her eyes closed and arms crossed under her chest.
She couldn't find it in herself to feel sorry about the noise that disturbed the rather relaxing silence though, not when she saw exactly what it had been for.
Jellal was behind her with a large wicker basket tucked underneath his arm and a red and white checked blanket thrown over his shoulder. He panted for breath like he'd just been running a lot, but had no flushed face so Erza concluded that he'd used his Meteor spell to get here – it impressed her a little, going that fast would have made even Jet drop something but he appeared perfectly in order.
Her eyes brightened and she felt her lips quirk into a smile when she smelt her favourite flavour in the world. Stopping to look at Jellal's tight shirt for a bit, her gaze trailed down to the basket he was carrying, seeing a white blanket taped to the sides to prevent anything from falling out.
'That was clever of him'. He settled down next to her look her way, smiling sheepishly.
"Sorry I'm late; I know we planned to meet a little earlier but I was held up." He faced the ground with his eyes flicking to look at her – likely to check if she was angry – every once in a while. Erza couldn't be mad at him though, it was too nice an evening and he was incredibly cute looking worried like that.
She reached her hand out to cup his cheek and pull her towards him, kissing him like she'd never got to at the time before her first entrance in the Grand Magic Games all those years ago.
"It's fine; I am enjoying the company right now, even if he has come a little bit late." She knew her grin was cheeky and he matched hers, before throwing the things he'd brought with him aside, kissing her back under the vibrant colours in the sky fading from sight.
