Author notes

This story came from me trying to find fanfictions where the tenth incarnation of the doctor uses his hands to 'step' into other people's minds and I shall add to this as I come up with new ideas for scenarios.

The mind of a childlike person.

"What was it like? " She asked, with the curiosity of a child "beautiful, spectacular, the entire city was cased within a glass dome" He said as a dreamy look came upon his face "can I see it? " She asked "I... It's gone" He said feeling a sense of guilt wash over him "why, what happened? " She asked "there was a war, time war, Timelords verses a race known as the Daleks, neither side one" He said.

"But if neither side one, then how can it be gone? " She quizzed "I had to sacrifice destroying the planet, it put a end to the Timewar" He responded "it haunts me everyday" He finished looking sorrowful.

"I still want to see it, I can't picture a place like that through words" She said which gained a questioning look from the doctor "what do you mean? " He asked her "I have mild autism which means that I learn better from seeing and doing compared to writing and listening" She finished.

"Well there is one way I could show you" He told her with a soft smile "but you said that its gone, so how can you show it to me when it's not there? " She asked, showing off her curious childlike side again "Timelords have a trick, they can sort of 'jump' into another beings mind, but they need to maintain physical contact." He said looking at her.

"You said that you don't understand through words, it's a more visual way, but instead of diving in I want to let you tell me if I'm allowed" He did a mental cringe as he remembered that in the past, he'd only asked someone for consent once, he wasn't used to asking before doing.

She nodded slightly looking shyly down at the ground, her golden-red hair slightly covering her face.

"I should mention beforehand that if there is anything that you do not want me to see, lock it away now" She gave him a slightly confused look "what do you mean? "She asked "Well I'll have to step into your mind before you can step into mine" The doctor although impressed by her curiosity was getting a little uncomfortably bored with waiting "once a door has been opened you can step through it either way" He said.

She nodded again in a understanding way now looking back up at him, he gently brushed some hair out of the way before gently touching her soft temples and was almost immediately transported into her mind.

*in her mind*

The doctor finds himself in a dark hallway, lit by a single candle, there's many doors, but one stands out to him the most, the wood is charred and peeling in places, it's loose on its hinges, the doctor carefully reaches for the loose doorknob when suddenly the door flips open on its own, he sees so much pain and loneliness that he almost forgets his plan, he quickly pulls it too and makes a mental note to look again later.

He then creates a door in her mind that will allow her to enter his mind.

*in his mind*

She found herself standing on a glittering mountain, the sky above her was a fiery red and the trees silver leaves sparkled like snow, below her was a beautiful city dale inside a huge glass dome, up in the sky where two suns, one slightly smaller than the other, it was a beautiful and impossible planet, she felt a pang of sadness that it was gone.
