Well, just watched 'The Green Death' the other day, and I was nearly brought to tears at Jo's emotional departure (especially how Jon Pertwee acted afterwords… that man was a sensational actor).

The Doctor emerged from the TARDIS, the cold wind immediately blowing at him. He pulled on his gloves and wrapped his arms around himself, keeping warm under the cape. His long, semi-curly hair, with patches of white scattered throughout the blonde, blew in the wind.

He sighed, a cloud of fog emerging from his lips, before dissapating in the wind. Yet another one left him. Whenever the did, he was filled with sadness and dissappointment. Only this time, it was worse.

He didn't quite know what to say when the Professor proposed to her. He was happy yes, but also sad. He had noticed that, ever since she met the Professor, she had been paying less attention to him. She even got herself killed trying to help with the Professor's experiments. And when he was injured, it took the Doctor forever to tear her away.

And now, she was married, and would soon quit her job in UNIT and move on in her life. A life that, now, would be full of adventure, without danger and evil.

The Doctor thought back to the day she first came into his lab, botching up his repair work to the TARDIS. When he found out she was going to be his new assistant, he could hardly contain the horror he felt; instead of an intelligent, strong minded woman, he was getting a clumsy, thick clutz!

But… she revealed herself to be more than that. She was brave, kind, and extremely loyal. When she tried to sacrifice herself to save him, he was… well, touched didn't even begin to describe it.

Their friendship grew, until it could only be compared to love. Not romance love, but the love of a family, a deep love that makes you feel safe when you are near that person.

And now, she was gone. Just like all the others.

He sighed again and began to walk deeper in the ancient alien desert. The twin moons, vast orbs of purple, cast an erie, yet beautiful glare on the white sand.

The Doctor gave a little smile, remembering the first time Jo stepped out onto an alien world. Her eyes grew wide with amazement and wonder, like a child's. She was so… sweet was the only word that came to mind.

Suddenly, a beeping alarm came from the TARIDS. The Doctor looked back and grimmaced. UNIT calling him back for some reason or another. He made his way back, looking back at the alien world.

He envisioned the first thing Jo would have said and gave a soft laugh.

Why is it so purple?
