Marceline wasn't the type to knock. She wasn't the type to do anything polite, really. Glob, shouldn't queens be polite? Was it really that hard to knock?
"Is it really that hard to knock?" Princess Bubblegum exclaimed.
She almost kept her thoughts to herself, but Marceline ought to know how she felt.
The vampire queen smirked, "Hey Bonnibel."
"What are you doing here? I thought Finn was the one coming over to pick up the potion he asked for," she said, scowling.
"Don't pretend you're not happy to see me, Bonni."
PB's face turned from pink to red, a change that made Marceline start salivating involuntarily.
"Just wait here, I'll be back in a couple of minutes," Bubblegum said quickly, and hurried to her lab.
Marceline smiled and floated upward, counting in her head how much time was passing.
It was exactly seventeen seconds before PB returned.
Marceline wondered why she had come back so quickly... probably to make sure she wouldn't mess anything up.
Marceline descended and stood facing Bubblegum, who nearly threw the vial at her from the nerves.
Why was she even nervous? Sure, she hadn't been alone with Marceline for months, maybe longer, but still. It was just Marceline. Just Marceline.
'Yeah, right.' PB thought bitterly as Marceline chuckled at her and took the vial from her trembling hand.
"What's up with the liquid rainbow in here?" She asked, shaking the vial and staring at its contents with wonder.
The liquid inside changed from color to color abruptly. "Is it like magic or some junk like that?"
"It isn't magic," Bubblegum said, smiling in spite of herself, "It's science."
"Science," Marceline repeated. "You sure are something, Bonni."
Princess Bubblegum's cheeks started changing shades again until they were scarlet.
Marceline leaned forward until their faces were inches away. PB's heart started pounding so hard she felt like she was going to pop. "Your face is bright red," Marceline purred.
"Don't even think about turning me white or something!" Bubblegum squeaked, her tongue barely functioning with the vampire so close.
"It's getting redder and redder. I could turn it pink..." Her voice trailed off.
"Pink?" PB whispered.
"Mm-hmm."
Marceline crossed the tiny space between them and put her lips on Bubblegum's.
The Princess couldn't help letting a tiny gasp escape from her when she felt the kiss.
Marceline was the type who knew how to kiss. Oh my, could that vampire kiss.
Bubblegum felt her knees weakening, but Marceline wrapped one arm around her back and steadied her.
It was a smart thing to do, because when Marceline slipped her tongue into Bubblegum's mouth she couldn't stand up by herself. Her entire body was buzzing under the vampire's touch. She could feel Marceline pressed tightly against her, their bodies fitting like puzzle pieces. And she could feel Marceline's surprisingly hot mouth working what really was magic.
After a couple of minutes (real, whole minutes), Marceline withdrew, but she kept her arm snaked around Princess Bubblegum's waist.
"I have to get your little rainbow back to Finn and Jake."
Bubblegum nodded once, her lips still parted. When Marceline started to take her arm back, Bubblegum grabbed it and pulled the vampire towards her. She kissed Marceline and smiled at the small groan that came from her throat.
"You don't really have to knock," said Princess Bubblegum softly.
"Yeah, I know."
Marceline winked at her and floated away, the liquid in the vial changing colors madly in her hand. Bubblegum touched her cheeks lightly and wondered what color they were. She hoped they were pale, white maybe.
