Love is everything to our world. Millions of people fall victim to it every year. Billions of poems, plays, movies, and TV shows fulfill our lustful desire for it and leave us craving more. A couple in love blaze across the sky like a meteor and burn up just as fast when they hit the atmosphere. Love is as addictive as a drug and every bit as dangerous. People take themselves from us because they lack it. But being with the one you love is nothing short of magical. Nothing is better then the blissful joy that comes with it.

But sometimes the one you love isn't the one for you. No matter how much you get along with them, you just don't click romantically. After a while dates grow stale, conversations run dry, and rifts form. No matter how long you've known them, how much you have in common, or how much you love them, it's time to just be friends.

Luka sat on love seat flipping though a scrapbook. The scrapbook was filled with pictures of her and a boy with black hair and kind, loving eyes. The pair of them were doing everything from riding a bike together to laying in a field of flowers. The photos span over 5 years and in every last one of them, they were smiling and enjoying each other's company.

A small click roused Luka out of her thoughts and she gazed at Kyo, the boy who was in the pictures, flick through the channels. A newscaster spoke of a runaway before a woman selling a diamond necklace interrupted, and in turn a soccer player was breaking away to score a goal. Luka looked back at Kyo and her's frozen smiling faces. They were spending time together now, why weren't they smiling and laughing together now? Luka closed the scrapbook with a sigh. She held it close to here heart as if to protect what she still had with Kyo, A thousand ways to repair the couple's relationship ran though her mind but one fact remained. No matter what they did it would be too little, too late. The only thing left was to find out who would speak up first.

The flickering of the TV as it changed channels fell in time with the ticking of the clock on the wall. Five ticks and fives channels closer to the end. Tick... Tick... Tick... The clock grew louder when he turned off the TV and silence filled the room. Tick... Tick... Tick...

"Luka..." Kyo turned to her and his once loving eyes told her everything she needed to know. The ticks remaining to the end had run out and it was time to say good-bye.

Her body moved without consent as Luka left the house and walked slowly down the street, not looking back once. She was empty of everything, shoving down her emotions with shock until she was left with nothing but the inkling of dull pain that hinted at the break down that was coming. It was her body that took her to the train station and bought her a ticket to her best friend's town, not her mind. With every second that pasted, the peaceful emptiness slowly ebbed away and anguish bubbled up inside her. It was a long thirty minute ride but at the same time it seemed to pass in seconds.

The cold wind nipped Luka's bare arms and raised goosebumps across them as she stepped out oto the platform. She stared blankly at them before it registered that she left her coat at Kyo's house. What did it matter? She twisted her way through crowds and streets until she was in front of the familiar house. Cheerful laughter rang out in the house and Luka died a little inside. She knocked. A chair scraped across the floor and foot steps neared the door.

"Yes?" IA, Luka's best friend, appeared with a warm, welcoming smile that melted when she saw the sad shell of Luka.

Tears finally found their way to Luka's eyes and fell. No words were needed between the long time friends. IA enveloped her in a hug and let Luka cry into her shoulder.
