Author's note: I just got a little plot bunny stuck in my head and had to write it down. I've never really done a future fic before, so this'll be my first.
POV: Gabriel.
I walked in to the house my wife, Riley, and I moved into a month ago and straightened. Something was off.
"Riley, I'm home" I called out. I had found out quick enough, that sneaking up on Riley wasn't a good idea, not if I wanted to have kids. There was no answer.
"Gabriel, I'm not going to be coming in to work today, I'm not feeling too well. You think you can manage having Alex watch you today without making him want to shoot you" Riley asked me this morning. I had kissed her and told her that I'd be fine.
"Riley? Hon" I asked checking each room. Riley and I had gotten married after years of being partners and I was still on cloud nine a year later. Lillian and some others had joked that it had been about time we tied the knot.
"Didn't you say that a rose was Amelia's favorite flower? Look" Riley asked me one day as we were planning our wedding. Sure enough, there was a single white rose, a flower Amelia had been in love with, growing in the apartment garden. I had cried again that day; Amelia had given her blessing for us to marry.
"Come on Riles, where are you" I asked nobody in particular, panicking when I saw Riley's cell phone and a broken vase in our dining room.
"I'm not going anywhere, Gabriel. Not unless you force me to" she had told me when we were dating. We had just gotten married over a year ago! This couldn't be happening! I couldn't stand losing another wife!
"Riley, I can't lose you too" I mumbled to myself. At that moment, the door opened and closed a moment later. I turned around...
"Sorry about that, I knocked into that on the way out" Riley said sheepishly. I breathed a sigh of relief. She was fine. And was grinning ear to ear. Not that I didn't love her smile. What was she up to?
"That's ok. Is everything alright" I asked her. She nodded and kissed me. Then, she pulled my ear towards her mouth.
"I went to the doctor's today. They found something" she whispered. An eyebrow rose.
"And what was that" I asked her. She pulled back, kissed me once more, and then got closer to my ear again.
"Open the chart Mr. Vaughn" she said. I got into the doctor's files and opened the one that said Riley Vaughn. I scanned through it. No virus or food poisoning, but they did a test and...
"I'm going to be a father" I asked, not believing what I was reading. Riley grinned at me and laughed.
"Yes, Mr. Vaughn. Or should I say daddy" she teased me lightly. I laughed and picked her up in my arms.
"I'm going to be a dad" I cried happily. There was going to be a little Riley running around in about nine months! Well, not running, but a little Riley! She'd be as strong, beautiful, and smart as her mother.
"Housewarming gift number...five" Riley joked. I laughed and kissed her.
Ok, so how'd I do? Please be gentle, I am new to the one-shots.
