A/N This is a little something I wrote months ago.
Disclaimer: I don't own MacGyver. The show belongs to its rightful owners.
Riley found him sitting on the porch. She crossed her arms and watched the man from the doorway. He didn't even seem to notice her.
He looked calm, a lot calmer that he had been a couple of hours ago. Riley was glad of it. The distress in his eyes had been concerning but Riley understood why he had reacted that way. Sometimes even the members of their team needed to let out some steam. This time it had been him.
"Did you know that I have always enjoyed the smell of freshly-cut grass?" The question startled Riley out of her thoughts. Her eyes wandered over to the man who wasn't even looking at her. She decided to stay quiet and just listen to what the man had to say.
"I don't know why but it reminds me of my childhood. It brings up all the good memories."
Riley smiled a little as she went to sit next to the man. "Of what? The times where you annoyed your parents and ran to hide into the woods when they finally snapped?" she snorted.
"What? I was an angel back then," Jack narrowed his eyes as he turned to look at the young woman. "Unlike you. You were a little rascal back then and you still are one now."
Riley chuckled. "Yeah, well, what can I say. You didn't lose your patience easily back then and you're pretty much the same nowadays. You practically forced me to test your limits. Besides, you got to admit that I did impressive job with pissing you off." Jack chuckled at that.
"That you did," he nodded. A few minutes of silence followed the statement as the two agents thought of the time when they were just kids.
Many things had changed since but they really didn't mind it. All things considered, they were in a good place. They had close friends, a small dysfunctional family, to support and back them up on the job and at home. They also had a job they liked and they got to help other people while doing it. There wasn't much more they could hope for. Suddenly they heard a loud crash coming from the house. Scratch that. They could use a little more silence every now and then.
The crash was soon followed by a shout, "Bozer! I told you to leave the model alone!"
Jack and Riley shared a look. "I think we should get inside before the boys tear each other apart," Riley smirked and stood up. She offered a hand to Jack who accepted it and let Riley help him up.
"It's good to have you around, Ri," Jack smiled and pulled Riley to a one-armed hug. "You don't get nearly enough praise from the job you do. I don't know what we would do without your computer skills."
"You guys would get hurt a lot more," Riley stated and puched Jack's arm playfully.
"Somehow I don't doubt that," Jack shook his head with a smile.
A/N Okay, I'm starting at a new school tomorrow so I don't know when I will get to write again. I just wanted to post a little something for you guys now that I still have a chance. As always, reviews are greatly appreciated.
THANKS FOR READING! I hope you guys liked this because to me the ending seems a bit rushed and I think the characters were a bit ooc. I have to say that I had only seen a couple of episodes back when I wrote this but that's not really an excuse.
