In Anna's memory her sister Elsa had always built better snowmen then her. Elsa's snowmen seemed to be filled with life and in themselves almost... alive?

It was winter in Arendelle. Anna knocked on Elsa's door as she usally did in the morning when the snow was falling.
"Elsa," she asked. "Do you want to build a snowman?"
"No Anna," Elsa's timid voice came from behind the door. "I can't."
Anna wanted to ask why, but she had, many times and Elsa wouldn't tell her. Asking again would only result in tears; her own. Anna couldn't remember why her sister was locked in her room, but she hated the thought of Elsa being alone.
"Elsa, can you remember when we used to build snowmen together?" Anna asked.
"No... yes, actually I do," Elsa replied sadly.
"You called one of them Olaf," giggled Anna.
There was an unmistakeable laugh from behind the door. "Yes..."
"Well," said Anna. "I haven't built a snowman in so long I can't remember how to."
There was silence.
"You'd think the instructions would've been on the box," Elsa replied.
A hollow laugh escaped from Anna's mouth, it was false and not her at all. Then, from the scilence came the scratch of pen on paper. After a while a small piece of folded paper with writing in blue ink was pushed through the crack underneath the door towards her.
"Elsa?" Anna asked. Behind the door silence answered.

The soft white snow fell all around Anna as she pulled out the paper that Elsa had given her from her dress pocket. As Anna unfolded the paper she squealed in delight. Elsa had written instructions on how to build a snowman!

Step 1: clump two small balls of snow to make the snowman's feet.

Step 2: get a big ball of snow and balance it on the snowman's two feet.

Step 3: now roll a smaller ball of snow and place it on top of the larger ball of snow. Place three lumps of cole in a vertical line and place a stick in either side of the snowman's body.

Step 4: create the head, place it on the body. Put two lumps of cole on his face to resemble eyes, and don't forget a carrot for his nose.

Once Anna had done what Elsa's instructions told her, her snowman looked like a mess of carrot, cole and sticks in multiple lumps of snow. Anna was disappointed. She thought that Elsa would tell her, the secret to making snowmen. Of course she wouldn't! Anna thought, it's a secret.

Until Anna found the last step.

Step 4: kiss the snowman's head and give him a name.

Questions flooded to Anna's mind...

What did Elsa mean by kiss the snowman? And what would she name it?

Anna did as the instructions told her and she kissed the snowman on the top of its head. She took a step back and looked at the snowman. "I name you Olaf," she said.

Reexamining the snowman again Anna could see that nothing had changed.

Until she saw it, the snowman smiled.
