"Do you believe in heaven?" she asked him quietly.

He didn't look at her, instead he continued to lay motionless and stare up at the stars. His eye brows crinkled as he thought about the question seriously before asking. Did he believe in heaven?

Eons seemed to pass as they lay silently atop the bonnet of his car, gazing up at the majestic night sky that they had one day hoped that they would share together. The stars twinkled ever so brightly, while every now and then it would seem as if one would blink out. As bright as they were it appeared that they were wrapped in a blanket of black silk, held ever so tightly together by one thin strand of thread that if it was to be unpicked, they would all unravel.

"Do you believe in god?" he asked her, knowing that this was not what she wanted to hear. But how could he answer her truthfully when he had broken her heart in such a way that it could never be fixed. He had tried countless times to fix it but nothing worked, she was too broken hearted.

So here they both where now, lying atop the bonnet of his car near the edge of a cliff, gazing at the beauty of the night sky. He knew why she had asked him to drive her to this particular spot though.

She didn't want to live anymore.

"I believe in hope" she said softly, her voice almost not heard in the silence of the night. A tear trickled down the side of her face as she quickly brushed it away. She didn't want to appear weak.

She slid her way off the bonnet of the car and stared out at the cliff, her back faced to him.

"I always loved you" she said quietly as she took that one last step over the edge.
