The first thing he noticed was movement, startling him from slumber. The ground was shifting underneath him and it made him quake with fear. Next was the sensation of falling, making his stomach churn and informing him that something awful was happening. Then the sound of breaking glass and the rush of air as cracks formed in the wall.

Panic welled up inside him, making him scramble, frantic for anything to hold onto. There was nothing; he slid across the floor and slammed painfully into the wall.

Something was wrong with the vessel.

When he next awoke, there was cold and a vast expanse before him. Rushing for any kind of cover, he huddled against the first thing he spotted; a smooth column. There were loud noises in the air, clanging and ringing all around him. Voices and footsteps, and so he hid.

He was afraid, and so it was best not to be detected.

Frozen in fear for what felt like eons, he felt a hint of wind near him and spotted a giant vent in the wall. Dashing to it, he slipped his skinny body past the bars and climbed inside. He clambered through the vents and found it to be a part of a larger vessel. He could go just about anywhere, and so he made a home in the most abandoned part of it. No one seemed to notice him, but he surely did not want to be detected. Strange giant creatures roamed around, at all hours, and it terrified him.

For a long time, that was his life. He hid and stole bits of food when he could. No one knew he was there and so he watched. He waited. And he planned an escape, a dream that he was sure would never come.

He had no idea how long it had been when there was the sound of footsteps approaching his abode. They paused, tapping their foot lightly but it sounded like thunder to him; whoever it was towered over him.

Waiting for what he assumed was the right moment, he tried to scurry to the other side of the room, into a hideout he had prepared for just such an instance.

But instead, he found himself in a prison of flesh. Captured by the giant, it brought him up and he could finally see a face. Oh…it's you. He thought.

"Hey, there you are, buddy. Let's get you back to your rightful place. The cabin is waiting for you, my little space hamster," the giant said as he was carried off, settling down at the touch. Fear no longer ruled him; his adventure was over.

Shepard had found him and was taking him home.
