Sookies breathing was deep and even when Eric climbed quietly through her bedroom window, careful not to disturb her sleep. Her long blonde hair fanned out on her pillow, adding an almost luminescent glow, as it was bathed in the moonlight. As he sat down on her bed it gave a squeak of protest to the added weight and her eyelids fluttered at the noise.
He froze, waiting until her movements stilled before he shifted again, gazing at her in quiet confusion. His thoughts were confused and jumbled, yet as he continued gazing upon her sleeping form, he realised why it was that he was confused.
He had quite the mixed feelings about this fiery little blonde human with the quirky talent. She intrigued him like no other person, vampire or other ever had before. She made him feel things that were foreign to him, the affection and longing he felt as he gazed at her mixing him up like it had over the last few months. Yet she also frustrated him with her stubbornness and eagerness to walk into situations dangerous and unknown.
The quiet mumble of his name brought him out of his thoughts with a crash. He looked at her in shock, hearing the affection and longing in her own voice yet still muffled with that sleepy quality that meant she wasn't fully awake. He leant down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, before standing up and moving swiftly to the window.
With one last look at the beautiful woman curled up, bathed in moonlight on her bed he finally realised the truth of things. He loved the woman, this human woman. Realising this, he felt a strange sudden longing to stay with her, protect her from anything that may harm her before he saw her next, nearly freezing him in place with the force of it.
He growled to himself quietly, cursing the fact that the night was nearly over and he had to get to his safe place before the sun came up. I will see you soon, my love.
And I will finally make you mine.
