New Life
On land, Jack was miserable. He was cold, hungry. He needed a home.
One day, he chanced upon the ocean. Happily, he captured many fish.
Jack was too sad to leave; he loved the salty ocean air. So, he drew crossbones on a flag to warn cats of his presence. It reminded him of the fish he had eaten, his survival—devotion to the sea.
He wandered into a ship at port. The ship sailed away, and he began his adventures, plundering the seven seas in search of shiny objects and lush food.
From then on, he was called Bengal Jack.
Jewel
The green sea was vast, rich, and clear. The cut of the ship's bow into the waves was mesmerizing. Nothing could overshadow the water's beauty.
Once Jack found a ship and pillaged the goods, he was astounded by the weight of a treasure box.
Inside, a massive, round jewel laid. He traced the hardened edges, its translucent nature showing patterns of layers underneath. The silver-white stone shone like a held-held rainbow under the ocean sun's blazing heat.
Jack gasped, tilting it with his paw, entranced.
The ocean would always be his home, but he found another delight above its waves.
