She was the one who had stood there unfeeling, coward to the end. She was the one who stood by and did nothing, her whole life. It was her who had been too afraid to fight, too afraid to take a leap of faith, too afraid to love the ones who loved her because she was scared they might hurt her. So she had let her heart lie so still and dormant she didn't know if it was still alive. Did she love them? She didn't know. But now that they were gone something hurt inside. She looked up and saw the wide, wide, sky. She looked down and saw the earth, warm and inviting. "Come back," they seemed to whisper, "Be one with us again". So she let go, and flew into the earth's embrace.
She was one with the earth, one with the sky, part of the spirit of the world. And she liked it here. She felt at peace. But there was something hard inside of her that wouldn't let go. It was a responsibility she had failed that gripped her and trapped her. It wanted her. So the earth and the sky gave up on her, and let her go.
Author's Note: This is the start of a reincarnation fanfic. I'm not sure where exactly in the Narutoverse she'll be reincarnated into yet, or in general where the story is going, except basically she tries to find self-redemption in her new life. Any ideas for birth place/conditions, etc? + Review and give feedback please :) .
**Also, this is a preview/prologue, so it's very short. In general my chapters will be longer than this. Hopefully.
