Frisk has been struggling with depression. A depression so deep, she couldn't find a way out of it. Her Determination to live on is what's keeping her together. She kept it all a secret because she never wanted to get confronted about it by her friends, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, or even her adoptive parents, Toriel and Asgore. She kept listening to music that would help her ease her depression and anxiety.
She was older and more mature looking compared to her appearance as a child. She sported long, beautiful brown hair, she is considerably taller, possibly as tall as Toriel. She was fit and her chest was average.
Technology has been advancing as she and everybody else got older. But even with all this technology and other new things, she lost all hope and gave into her depression. She pretty much lost all control of her life. It was causing her to become severely depressed as it is... However, she couldn't keep her depression a secret for long... When her friends and her adoptive parents found out, they were shocked and horrified. When they confronted Frisk about her depression, she felt her depression taking over her completely.
Frisk almost lost herself in this burden. Her depression was about to take over and she cannot control it when a picture book dropped from the shelf of her room. She looked over to see the book.
"What the hell?" Frisk whispered to herself in confusion.
She picked up to find that it was her biological family's book. She was surprised by this discovery, feeling the urge to open the book.
Underneath the cold November sky...
I'll wait... for You...
As the pages of my life roll by...
I'll wait... for You...
She sat down onto her bed and looked at her biological family's pictures. Before she could open, she had to remind herself there may be no photos, which deepened her depression further. She hesitantly opens the book and the first photo was her father and her mother when she was 5 years old. Frisk started to recollect her memories when she was an innocent child.
At that time of her age, Frisk was having a picnic, as any family would. She would eat a sandwich, which laying down pointing at a cloud resembling an Object. However, her picnic didn't last long as a thunderstorm rolled into the sky. As everyone started to leave, her parents called for her. She obeyed without questioning. When she saw a lightning bolt about to strike, everything slowed down almost to a standstill. She looked over confused over what she just witnessed.
I'm so desperate just to see Your face...
Meet me in this broken place...
When she sees the lightning bolt about to hit her parents, she screamed...
"NOOOOO!"
Hold me now... I need to feel You...
Show me how... to make it new again...
There's no one I can run to...
And nothing I could ever do...
She jumped in the way to take the blast, getting electrocuted in the process. Her parents screamed in horror as they see their daughter getting blasted into the ground. However, her wounds mysteriously healed. Her parents looked in absolute shock, stunned into silence as they see their daughter get up with little effort.
"Mommy, Daddy, are you alright?" Frisk asked frantically for their own safety.
They only nodded yes in response. They all ran to the car to avoid getting struck by lightning.
I'm nowhere if I'm here...
Without You...
Frisk's depression starts to subside as she recollects her memories after discovering her power of Determination. She looks through the photos of her family and herself getting older. The photos become more colorful and the graphics progressively become higher quality. A smile spread across her face as she looked through photos that were taken after she gained her powers. There are her grandparents, and her uncle and aunt. However, she saw one photo that made her smile disappear as more memories flood into her mind. Furthermore, tears roll down her face as she has her last photo that has her mother...
Even if You take it all away...
I'll wait... for You...
When her mother was driving Frisk away from her final day of school when she was 8, her mother managed to get a flat tire from a nearby spike and the car tumbled across the road. Frisk and her mother screamed in horror as the car was smashed in the road.
She was alive... but her mother wasn't...
Even when the light begins to fade...
I'll wait for You...
Time has skipped by 1 year, her father became an alcoholic due to his wife's death. Frisk never attempted to interrupt her father drinking, because even at her age, she was aware of the consequences. Even when her grandparents took care of her, she would still find him drinking alcohol when she got home. But that all changed when her father enters her room when Frisk was 9 years old.
I'm so desperate calling out Your name...
"Sweetpea? Are you OK?" Her father asked concernedly.
Frisk turns around and slowly walk back.
"Frisk, I know I haven't been looking after you ever since my wife... your mother had died." Her dad said, confessing his sorrow towards his daughter.
"You wanna know why...?" Frisk's dad asked.
Meet me in this broken place...
"Why?" Frisk replied.
"The reason why I haven't been able to move on and take care of you, was because you'd think I was tough and I can take on anything, but I wasn't as tough as you or anyone would believe. I couldn't bear seeing my wife dead on the floor. And I couldn't think about moving on or whatever." Her father said, explaining his alcoholism.
"I never thought you would never interrupt me when I was drinking... And when I realized I have to look after you once again..." Her father said.
"I'm sorry, Frisk... I'm so sorry..." Her father apologized to her, sorrowly.
Hold me now... I need to feel You...
Show me how... To make it new again...
Frisk's dad walked up to her daughter and held her in his arms tightly. Frisk hugs her father in acceptance.
"Please forgive me... Frisk..." Her father begged.
There's no one I can run to...
And nothing I could ever do...
I'm nowhere if I'm here...
Time has skipped again and the events in Frisk's life took the darkest turn. Time has skipped 1 year when her father had become ill due to a stroke he received from his grief. He was lying down on his deathbed when he was told by the doctor he wasn't going to make it from dying. Her daughter comes inside the room to see her father for the final time in her life. Tears rolled down her face as she sees her dying father.
"Frisk..." Her father spoke to her in a deep voice.
"Father..." Frisk spoke, holding her father's hand.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to break that promise about our summer vacation..." Her father said, smiling a little.
"I... I lied to you, too, Father." Frisk replied.
"When you told me I would never be like you, and I am not. You told me to be different, and I am. I'm so glad to be the way I am, Father. I'm glad that you took care of me and everyone else when they need help." Frisk said, tearfully admitted to her father.
"And I'm glad you made everyone in our family's lives easier, including mine..." His father smiled again.
"I'm scared, Father... So scared... I don't want you to go...!" Frisk sobbed, not wanting Death to take her father's soul.
"I know, honey... But there won't be anything to be scared of soon. I just wish I could've taken care of you alone. Rather than rely on your grandparents when I fell deep into that severe depression..." Her father explained his guilt to his daughter for the final time.
His father paused for a moment.
"I'll look after you from time to time... I love you, Frisk..." Her father said to his daughter.
"I love you, too..." Frisk replied, still holding her Father's hand.
"Goodbye, Frisk..." Her father spoke before closing his eyes.
His life signs from the heart monitor went from short heartbeats to a flatline, confirming Frisk's father has passed away from his illness.
"Father, No! No... Father, no..." Frisk feels his father's hand slip from hers.
She looked down to her now deceased father. She pays her respects by bringing herself down to her knees, clasped her hands in front of her chest, and prayed for her father to have a better life in the afterlife than how it was in the realm of the living.
She got up and walked out of the hospital room. She was seen by nurses when she about to leave the hospital. They asked how her father's doing. She can only stay silenced. The nurses knew what it meant and rushed to Frisk's deceased father's room. Frisk walked out of the hospital. She finally lets her emotions run rampant as she runs away in sheer sorrow from her former life...
I'm tired of running... and wrestling with these angels!
I lay down... my life and I surrender!
Hold me now... I need to feel You!
Show me how... to make it new again!
Frisk looks over the last pages of her photos. She wipes the tears off her face and now fully accepts her new life with the monsters. She smiled after all the good times she had spent with her parents, grandparents, and her uncle and aunt. When she looks down and sees a note from his family that said...
"Thank you for the good times! Now go have new ones!"
There's no one I can run to!
And nothing I could ever do!
Frisk's depression has been overcome by her willingness to live and happiness. She puts her hand on the note, confessing to her family that she misses them. She closes the book and places it on the shelf where it came from. She hears the door open and sees Toriel smiling at her. Frisk realized that Toriel must've had the book held in the shelf just waiting for Frisk to look at her Biological Family's photos. Frisk smiled at her adoptive mother and hugs her.
Hold me now... I need to feel You!
Show me how... to make it new again!
"Toriel... I'm sorry..." Frisk apologized to her.
"I know, sweetpea. I knew you would experience this type of conflict. So I placed your Photobook on the shelf there, just waiting for you to recall your memories." said Toriel.
"Thank you, Toriel..." Frisk replied with a tighter hug.
Toriel held her back in response.
When they were out taking a walk, Frisk and Toriel saw their friends with smiling faces, indicating they knew everything.
There's no one I can run to!
And nothing I could ever do!
"Hey, guys." said Frisk, waving Hello to them.
"Feeling better now, kid?" Sans asked.
"Better than ever." Frisk replied.
"How about we go bowling? I heard there are some prizes for us we can get!" Papyrus asked about going to the bowling alley.
Everybody agreed to go to the bowling alley. Frisk and Toriel walk together side by side as they follow Sans and the others. Frisk smiles in thought now that she's been freed of the depression that took hold of her. Ever since she broke the barrier that trapped the monsters in the Underground, she became the hero to them. And she wasn't going to give that title up. She was back to being herself after so much suffering...
She is free...
I'm nowhere if I'm here...!
Without You...
