A/N - I already said it in the summary, but I just want to say it again: if you like this excerpt, please, please leave me a review and say you want me to continue. Also, I'm going to need a little help, so if you have ideas you want to share with me, go ahead and share them. I want this to be a story where I work alongside my readers, so I don't feel like I'm alone.

Varna Derion of the planet Naboo was a self-professed philophobic. She hated the idea of love - falling in love, being loved, etc. etc. Love scared her, and commitment scared her.

She shut herself away from the world around her for fear of encountering love in any way, shape or form.

Why had she shielded her existence from the galaxy? The reason was simple, or at least, Varna herself thought so. Her one and only experience of so-called "love" had ended so bitterly that it had scarred her for life. Not a day went by when Varna wouldn't think of it; wouldn't wake screaming from a nightmare about it.
