Beginning

On a dark stormy night which was common on the capital of the Cyclonian empire, there was a room filled with books that were filled with knowledge of all over Atmos, and many drawings made by a certain girl. Most of these drawings were about a young girl running around and having fun, but there were some drawings in which the little girl was accompanied by a tall man and an older woman. Amongst all the books and the drawings there was a bed in which the little girl slept with a small raggedy doll and a small crystal night light.

Suddenly a crack of thunder echoed throughout the room. Scaring the little girl awake

She let out a scream, holding her doll tightly.

Just as she screamed a man came into the room. He wore a black jumpsuit, grey armored shoulder protectors, grey armored gloves and boots, a black chest plate, that covered most of his chest, with the symbol of Cyclonia. His hair was all moved back leaving a small slick of hair hanging on his forehead. He held his sword in hand as he went to check on the little girl.

"Lark are you alright? What happened?" asked the man

"I just had a nightmare and the thunder just scared me." said the little girl

"Its okay. Everybody can get scared by nightmares and thunder, especially when you are surrounded by all these books. Would it help if you told me what that nightmare was about?" said the man trying to calm down the little girl.

"I was on the throne room, and I saw grandma talking to someone and then all the lights went out and there was this pair of red eyes looking at me, and then the thunder woke me up." said the little girl

"Its okay, its okay. Do you want me to tell you a story?" asked the man

"Yes please." responded the little girl

The man walked up to one of the stacks of books and started looking around for the perfect book for the little girl. Until he found the one. It was by no means a big book or a new book but it had some of the best stories in all of Atmos.

"Here we go. Get comfy 'case it's story time. Would you like to hear 'The Three Birds of a Feather'?" asked the man

"No." said the little girl looking at the man

"Alright, how about 'The Tall Tale of Merry Sue'?" asked the man

"No, I want a new one." said the little girl

"Then how about 'The Sky Knight and the Black Beauty'? On second thought this could be a little mature for you." said the man

"Please Crow, I am old enough for it. Please." said the little girl

After letting out an exaggerated sigh the man, now named Crow, began to read the tale.

A long time ago, in a world far far away there was a place called Atmos. This land was home to a thousand mountain top kingdoms each protected by a sky knight against the forces of Darkness.

Rogues.

Beasts.

Among many others, but there is one enemy that was far more powerful than all others. It was the Darkus. A race of long forgotten demons that plagued the skies and burnt the earth.

For ten thousand years, these beasts and the sky knights fought. This war took its toll on everybody, whether it was losing one's life, losing friends or losing a home. The price of victory was getting higher by the day and neither side looked like they were going to give in.

Until one day unlike any other...

A young sky knight had crashed on an abandoned terra or so he thought. He looked for a way to repair his skipper and return to his allies. However this became an issue when he came across a dense jungle filled with all sorts of animals that were trying to hide from the carnage that was taking place just over their heads. Including mosquitoes. Lots and lost of mosquitoes.

After many hours of searching and looking for help the sky knight came upon a dark scary looking cave. Having no other options for shelter the sky knight went inside the cave with hopes that there were no animals living in the cave.

In the darkness of the cave the sky knight couldn't see anything, including the stone with which he slipped.

The fall was quick and it knocked him out. A few hours passed and the sky knight woke up to the smell of burning wood and food. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a mysterious figure close by the fire. It turned and went up to the sky knight, and helped him up to drink some water.

When the sky knight's eyes adjusted to the light, he saw a beautiful woman covered in black robes that covered her body and part of her head.

She asked him who he was and if he knew where he was. He almost couldn't answer her because of her beauty. When he did she understood his predicament and decided to help him.

She told him of an ancient power that could stop the Darkus. The sky knight begged her to help him, she told him that it required a crystal and two people in order for the power to work against the Darkus.

The next morning the woman helped the sky knight get his skipper fixed and they both set out to find the mythical crystal. They sought the legendary Pure Elemental Crystal. This crystal according to the legend when combined with two people that embodied aspects of the light and the darkness it could do almost anything.

They searched day and night helping people on the way and as time grew longer their feelings for each other grew as well. She had shared all she knew and all that she was with him, and he shared all he knew and all that he was with her. Their love was the one beacon of hope they had during this time of blood shed. Nothing could be better for them.

After months of searching they found the crystal at the darkest corner of Atmos. It was in an area in which there were all sorts of beasts, such as flying sharks, giant bat men, among many others. After getting past those vicious beasts the knight and the woman made their way into the ancient temple which according to legend held the all powerful crystal. The temple looked ancient and worn out by the very forces of nature that governed Atmos. The walls were decorated with the remains of the people that created this place. Images of great beings, almost giants, walked and help create the crystal and gave it it's power.

Once the two travelers made it to the sanctuary of the Pure Elemental Crystal they spotted a statue of a woman holding the crystal in her hands. As they approached the statue, its eyes bursted open with purple light.

They stopped to stay cautious about the statue.

The statue then spoke to the two travelers introducing herself as the Guardian. She asked them for their reason to come into this old temple. They told the Guardian who they were and why they sought the Pure Elemental Crystal. The Guardian understood their need and their wishes she also told them that they each represented the two aspects of the light and the darkness.

The Sky Knight's bravery, kindness, and understanding that made him the champion light needed.

The Woman's mastery of the hidden arts, knowledge, and strong will made her the champion that the darkness needed.

With that knowledge the two chosen champions took at the crystal and challenged the Darkus. Using the Pure Elemental Crystal they were able to seal all the demons of the Darkus behind the doors of Oblivion and hid the only key to their escape.

After the battle and day were gone the two travelers disappeared leaving only this story behind. Many still believe that they are out there helping keep the balance between the light and the darkness preventing the return of the Darkus.

With those words said Crow looked at the little girl who was just ready to go to bed.

"Sleep now Princess Cyclonis." said Crow

"Crow, I told you never to call me that. Call me Lark when it is just the two of us." said Cyclonis

"Alright. Now go to bed. Good night Lark." said Crow

"Good night dad. Is the story you told me true?" asked Cyclonis

"Maybe, maybe not." said Crow leaving Cyclonis to sleep.
