The Right Choice

.

.

"Dad, when I get older I want to marry a man who's taller than me," a tiny five year-old Chichi says and glares up at her father, "and who isn't boring!"

"Okay, sweetie," the Ox King says with a playful grin and adds to chopped onions to the stew.

He knows this topic has bugged his daughter ever since he mentioned that her mother always did say she'd want to marry a man who "can cook, make jokes and can the sun set with her every evening". The girl's mother was a hopeless romantic, but luckily he was too.

"He shouldn't mind me telling him what to do."

The young girl's father tries desperately to stifle his laughter, 'At least she knows she's bossy'

"I want someone who's really sweet and kind and brave and loyal… but I don't want him to always be at home, THAT would so ANNOYING …" she snaps off-handily, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

The Ox King knows just how stubborn his daughter is, and how she hadn't quite forgiven him for giving up on their old home and moving away. She probably missed the almost-constant privacy she had at the old place, that's why she's bringing up this home-talk. "Please hand me the potatoes, sweetheart," he says and thanks her once several veggies are in front of him.

"Oh! AND he MUST have green eyes…" the five year-old sighs (in what she thinks is a 'loving' way), and starts walking off before even finishing the thought, "Green eyes… and blond hair too…"

Twenty years later… Chichi knows, she chose the right man, after all.
