This was written by me...spur of the moment kind of thing. Its part of a story that I have to complete. I've had this idea in my head for a while, the only problem is writing it out. ^-^ As with all writers / authors. Oh well must get over it.
The city below them looked like a summers evening where the fireflies had erupted, their light flashing intermittently with each passing second only to find them in a new spot when the light shone once more. The sky too had been set a fire by the dazzling effects of glittering fireflies from above, however these little diamonds did not move and found a home in the vastness above. I wish I knew where my home was. The air had been hot and heavy all day, weighing people down enough that all they could do was sit in their lawn chairs in the shade of their oak trees and watch the grass grow. On the eastern horizon sat the puffy cumulonimbus clouds slowly approaching the little city of fireflies ready to recapture the light that had escaped their cover. With the clouds approach from a distance, the small strike of lightning could be seen as an antenna of light that had been stretched from earth to heaven as though communicating with each other. The increasing cloud cover brought a drop in the temperature, enough to send shivers and goosebumps along the arms of the pale Arabian (knight). Water began to condense on the grass soaking the seat of his pants, but he didn't mind, he eyes concentrated on the lights below him where the glitter welcomed him as the warmth of a crackling fire. Pine trees scented with a bitter aroma and budding oaks surrounded the pack of glittering buildings and a black blanket was cast around the city outskirts smothering all the sounds of life and awakening the restless sprits of the night. He sighed and looked behind him to find his Chinese partner standing against the trunk of towering pine, with his arms behind his head and his eyes closed in meditation. Resuming his position on the edge of the incline, the Arabian let his eyes wander down the crest of the hill deeper into the dense woodland until the trees dissipated and arrived on the edge of the city of Omaha, Nebraska. Come on Duo, where the hell are you? The blonde Arabian pulled the cuff back of his white shirt and pushed the neon flashlight button in on his Timex watch, illuminating the numbers 1:03 am. "He's late," growled the Chinese teen, whose position did not waver with his voice. The short blonde Arabian responded only with a nod of the head, holding his glance to the city while his mind immersed in the moving pictures of the past and the plans for the upcoming future.
