I am so happy! My muse has come back to life and all it took was yesterday's most excellent news! Woo-hoo! Yeah! Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha! Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha! Woo-hoo!

So I just had to quick scribble something down to express my happiness!

Grissom stared in the mirror eyeing the slightly askew knot in his tie. With a frustrated sigh, he yanked the offending article of clothing loose to begin again.

He hated ties! Or at least he had since he was nine years old. He didn't need a shrink to make the connection for him. Ties went with funerals…..

But he had promised the two most important women in his life – his wife and his mother – a dinner once he was back in town and considering how long he had been gone this time, he wanted to make it up to both of them by taking them to one of the best restaurants in town. A tie tonight was most definitely a requirement. Besides, ever since Sara had told him shortly after they started dating that he looked hot all spiffed up in a suit and tie, those silky scraps of cloth weren't quite the instruments of torture they once were.

A thrilling shiver tingled up his spine as hands slowly, caressingly slid up and down his back then around his sides to rest on his chest. Meeting his wife's eyes in the mirror as her chin came to rest on his shoulder he couldn't help but grin like the biggest idiot on the planet.

They just stood there for a moment in silence just drinking in each other's presence. He could feel the happiness radiating from his beautiful wife.

Her softly whispered, "I'm so happy," in his ear only confirmed it.

Still, he had to ask, "Why?" He didn't know why he had to ask. He just did. Blame the scientist in him. Or the years and decades of being an investigator.

She tightened her hold on him. "Because you're home," punctuating her statement with a kiss to the side of his neck. "Because you're back at the lab." Another kiss.

"Temporarily," he warned, his eyebrow lifting slightly in its typical manner.

"Only temporarily," Sara agreed. "Just until a replacement for Ray can be found." A soft sigh escaped her lightly rouged lips. "It'll be just like old times." A heartbeat passed before she added, "Except that Warrick won't be there."

He laced his fingers with hers and squeezed. "I know, honey. I still miss him, too."

A moment passed, both lost in their memories, before Sara let him go, squeezed his shoulders and ordered him to finish getting ready. "We told your mother, we'd pick her up at 8 and it's almost 7:30 now. You better finish getting dressed."

With that, she turned around and headed into the bathroom to finish her preparations.

Yes, it was good to be home again. Tie or no tie.
