Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. If I did, FRED WOULD NOT HAVE DIED.

Harry and Ron had convinced Hermione to put down the books and spend the day outside. "Come on, Hermione! You almost got killed by a mountain troll," Harry said. "Besides, you're three weeks ahead in all our classes."

Hermione had reluctantly agreed, and now the three were sitting under a tree, laughing and joking.

"Um, Hermione?"

"Yes, Ron?"

Ron rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. For the thing after Charms class. I was just kind of upset. I've always been the last in the family to get stuff and you correcting me… It kind of hit a nerve."

Hermione smiled. "That's okay, Ron. I was being a little bit of a know-it-all."

There was a small, tense silence, then Harry said, "Anyone want to visit Hagrid?" Ron and Hermione agreed, and the Golden Trio headed across the grounds to Hagrid's house.

The Marauders, scourge of Hogwarts, sat under a shady tree. James Potter was playing "catch and release" with a snitch; he claimed it helped with his reflexes.

Remus Lupin was reading a thick book titled "Bandits, Pirates, and Marauders: Scourges of the High Sea." He was particularly interested in the infamous sea battles of Blackbeard. He was already adapting spells to mimic them.

Peter Pettigrew was writing an essay for History of Magic. His quill moved at a furious rate as he tried to finish in time. His friends weren't helping him. Remus had told him to relax, it wasn't due until tomorrow afternoon. James had told him to relax, Binns never looked at the essays he assigned. Sirius had looked at him blankly and said, "There's a History of Magic essay due tomorrow?"

Sirius Black was watching a group of girls near the lake. He had charged his girlfriend Jennifer with finding out how Lily Evans really felt about James Potter. "You know, I resent the 'flavor of the month' comment," he said, breaking the east silence hanging over the group. "I really like them. It's not like I try to get a new girl every month."

"And yet, somehow you do," James said, casually glancing over to where Jen and Lily were chatting.

"You know, we started your Flavor of the Month Club because you can't keep a girl longer than a month," Remus commented. "I think you're cursed."

Sirius nodded morosely. "That's it," he said sorrowfully. "I'm cursed."

Peter looked up from his essay. "What?" The other three laughed. Peter frowned, let out of the joke again.

Albus Dumbledore carefully took the small bundle that was Harry Potter from Hagrid. He heard Minerva's objections, but knew that Number Four Privet Drive was the safest place in the world for Harry. He would place an agent nearby, just in case, but he had to leave Harry here.

'He should go to Sirius Black,' a little voice whispered. But Sirius had been the Potters' Secret-Keeper, and now Lily and James were dead. 'Does that really sound like Sirius?' the voice asked. 'And then to kill Peter? That's not the Sirius you know.'

But Albus ignored the voice, ignored the warnings his gut was giving him, and set Harry on the front porch of the Dursley residence. He slipped a note into Harry's blanket and, ignoring one final twinge of conscience, whispered, "Good luck, Harry Potter." He clicked a silver lighter and restored light to the street before disappearing with a crack.

A/N: I'm using a 100 prompt list. Each chapter will have one prompt. There will be one AU (the Trio), one semi-AU (the Marauders), and one canon (usually Dumbledore-centric).
