Edward Kenway was a simple man with simple needs. Getting his friends out of prison was a large priority, more so than even the gold he seemed to love so, so much. Mary and Anne were suffering every minute that he wasted freeing them. Bearing this in mind, Edward continued to sneak though the cold, stone prison. Taking a deep breath of the chilled, dank air, he pokes his head around the corner and sees two hands poking through the bars, meeting halfway. As these hands were vaguely feminine in nature, Edward could only presume that he had made it to his destination. Now it was just time to find the key that would open the heavy, metal door. Edward creeped forward and peeked into the nearest cell, and saw Anne, who was breathing quite heavily in her sleep. In the next cell was his primary reason for coming here in the first place. Mary was also breathing quite heavily, but, unlike Anne, looked up to meet his eyes. Edward placed a single finger to his lips in the universal sign to stay quiet. Edward begins to search the area in a desperate attempt to find the key. After several seconds of searching, Edward hears heavy footsteps approaching the cell block. He dashes off into the dimly lit corner and crouches down. As the guard enters the area, Edward hears the faint jingling of keys bouncing on a belt. Edward carefully draws his sword, and prepares himself. As the guard rounds the corner, Edward skillfully slides his blade through the mans throat. With a sloshy gurgle, the man falls to the floor, dead. Edward quietly grabs the keys and unlocks Mary's cell. Walking in, he crouches down in front of a sickly Mary, and offers his hand. Mary hesitantly takes his hand and allows herself to be lifted to her feet. Almost instantly however, all of her strength leaves her and she nearly topples to the ground. Before she does, Edward grabs her under the knees and begins moving toward the cell door. As they pass Anne's cell, Mary begins to raise her hand and quietly mumbles something unintelligible. "Don't worry, Ad/spanspan style="font-family: Constantia, serif;"span style="font-style: normal;"é is waiting just outside," Edward replies to the perceived question. Edward begins to move toward the end of the hall when Mary begins to cough. Hearing footsteps becoming more apparent, Edward quickens his pace to a mild jog. After making it outside, Edward and Mary rendezvous with Adé. Edward places Mary on the ground, "Take her back to the boat, so I can retrieve Anne. I'll meet you there." Edward spares one last worrying glance at an unconscious Mary, before he turns and runs back into the prison. As he unlocks Anne's cell, Edward senses a pistol leveled at the back of his head. Slowly raising his hands above his head, Edward turns to find a young guard who is holding a uniform flintlock pistol in shaking hands. Before he has the chance to raise his voice in alarm, a long blade appears from the center of his chest. As the guard slumps over, Edward makes out Adé's large form. Nodding his thanks, Edward helps Anne to her feet, and the three of them make their way back to the boat sitting at the shoreline.
