Just a fluffy little oneshot, I haven't been writing much, so I thought i'd just write something short. Hope you enjoy!
"Merry Christmas Draco!" Hermione squealed, shoving a white box into his hand. Draco groaned and groggily sat up.
"No need to fucking deafen me, Granger. What time is it anyway?"
"Like 10! Time to get up!"
Draco groaned again and turned to get out of bed. They were at Hermione's parents house over the Christmas holidays, but Draco was going to Malfoy Manor for Christmas Day. Today. He dreaded returning home to the memories it held, the stifling silence of his father's absence, and his mother's disapproval of his fiancé. He wished Hermione was coming with him. Stupid. She would never willingly set foot in that place again. He didn't blame her. He wished he never had to either.
Draco quickly snapped out of his thoughts before they could spiral, and turned to the box he had been presented with by an overly excited Hermione. He gingerly peeled off the lid and found inside a thin, black rectangle.
"The fuck is this Hermione?"
"It's called an iPhone. You've seen me use one to talk to my parents."
"You're giving me a weird muggle contraption. Fantastic. What's wrong with a simple owl?"
"This is better! It's faster!"
She took the thing from him and fiddled around with it for a while, even once, grabbing his hand and holding his thumb against a circle at the bottom.
The rectangle suddenly buzzed.
"What the fuck?! It vibrated! What's wrong with it?! It's possessed!" Draco screamed.
At this Hermione erupted into giggles.
"What's so fucking funny Granger?" Draco growled.
"It's not possessed." She replied, still giggling. "I sent you a text."
"The fuck is a text?"
"Let me show you."
She took the phone from him, and pressed the little circle on the bottom. The front lit up and there was a little box that said:
Hermione
This is much better than owls. It's instantaneous!
"See?" She asked. And if you want to reply, you just swipe and put your finger on this thing!
"I have to give it to muggles," Draco said reluctantly. "This is kind of ingenious."
"I knew you'd love it! And, best of all, you can call me tonight!"
Draco grabbed Hermione and pulled her in for a kiss. She always knew exactly how he was feeling and what to do. She knew how much he didn't want to go to Malfoy Manor, and had given him a way to escape if it was too much. Draco loved her so much.
