I think this is a slightly OOC Green, but I liked the thought of him occasionally showing some sort of emotion, even if it's only towards Blue. Blue & Green are my favorite Pokemon pairing, so I hope you like reading this as much as I liked writing it!

"I don't know."

He listens, waiting for her to continue and smoothes a hand over her hair.

"I don't want to be the one waiting, you know?" He doesn't know, he never does when she tries to explain anything to him, but he waits for her to continue, like he knows she will, like she always does.

"They all say you can't be a trainer forever. That eventually you're gonna have to grow up and stop wasting your time gallivanting about with Pokémon. What if that is grown up to me? Or what if I don't know what growing up is?" She sighs and turns over, burying her head in his black shirt.

He doesn't know what to say; he never does around her. She usually does the talking, while he provides what he likes to call moral support. She calls him strong and silent, which he takes as a compliment.

She lifts her head up again, resting her chin between two of his ribs. It makes him wince in pain, but she doesn't notice. He doesn't want to make her move, because he understands that he is the one who is supposed to be comforting.

Deep in thought, she whispers, "But you'll always be there, right, Green? Even when I don't know where there is?"

He smiles and leans to press a kiss to her forehead. "Yes, Blue. I'll always be there."

He finds himself lost in staring at it, even when he should really be filing his report on the mating cycles of Jigglypuff.

It amazes him how that one feature can be so simply perfect, even when the rest of her is so simply not. He doesn't mean to be hurtful, but it is the truth that Blue's lips are too plump, and her eyes are too squinty to really be called "pretty".

And yet, he looks in between, and finds that nose, that perfect button nose that seems to taunt him as she spoons cereal (Primeape Puffs – "for the Mankey in you!")

into her mouth.

Green's nose has always been a little too Johtan for his tastes; the prominent, curved nose that his father and grandfather both have. He had always felt like it was much too big to be properly proportional to his face.

So he loses himself in living vicariously through Blue's nose, along with thinking that it isn't very manly to be so focused on a facial feature like that.

Before he realizes it, she's gotten up and her pajama-clad hips are sashaying towards him.

Her lips brush against the tip of his own nose, and she whispers, "It's okay, Green, I like yours better anyway."

It's a couple weeks after their most recent squabble, over something lame and stupid, so much so that even Blue doesn't remember it.

She happens to be passing through Pallet when she sees him, coming out of his grandfather's lab.

It would be a lie to say that he looks morose and is dragging his feet. He maintains his uncaring expression – maybe to a fault, she thinks. His face is the regular mask until he glances up and sees her there, staring at him.

There is a brief flash of something else across his features, something she wouldn't be able to explain if she tried. But it is enough to make her drop her bag and run across the road to hug him, leaving him speechless – as she usually does.

And their fight is forgotten, while a grudging Gold gives up 100 Pokedollars to Silver, losing his bet as usual.
