This is a ficcy I just thought of one time… You know how I am… I hear a song and then think of a fiction to go along with it.
I don't own Titanic or Long Way Around. One belongs to the Dixie Chikcs (yes I know… gasp! Country!) and the other to… somebody. Guess which is which.

My friends from high school
Married their high
school boyfriends
All the people she had known from finishing school had married their suitors or the men whom their parents had picked out for them.
Moved
into houses in the same ZIP codes
Where their parents live
Those girls lived in the same town as their folks, sometimes, within as little as a few streets from them.
But
I, I could never follow
No I, I could never follow
Thank God she had escaped that. She would have never been able to do it.
I
hit the highway in a pink RV with stars on the ceiling
Lived like
a gypsy
Six strong hands on the steering wheel
Rose Dawson had been all over America, livin' the real life, how Jack taught her.
I've
been a long time gone now
Maybe someday, someday I'm gonna settle
down
But I've always found my way somehow
She'd been on the road for so long. Maybe one day she could love again. But somehow, the long winding road was the place for her.
By
taking the long way
Taking the long way around
Taking the long
way
Taking the long way around
She had always been okay by taking the road less traveled.
I met the queen of whatever
She had met so many rich and famous people. Who cares?
Drank with the Irish and smoked with the hippies
Moved with the shakers
The common people, those without the money and the snob, those were the people worth knowing.
Wouldn't kiss all the asses that they told me to
She hadn't been nice to the right people. She had loved the 'wrong' people with a passion, and that's how her life ended up so damn great.
No
I, I could never follow
No I, I could never follow
She couldn't be like all those docile, finished girls. She was meant to be rough around the edges. She wasn't meant to be tamed.
It's been two long years now
Since the top of
the world came crashing down
Two years since that disaster…
And I'm getting' it back on the road now
Rose was pulling herself together.
But
I'm taking the long way
Taking the long way around
I'm taking
the long way
Taking the long way around
The long
The long
way around
She was living in a way Jack would be proud of.
Well, I fought with a stranger and I met myself
As she got to know Jack, he showed her who Rose really was.
I opened my mouth and I heard myself
Soon Rose knew it on her own.
It can get pretty lonely when you show yourself
It was lonely without Jack, but she was herself without her mother and Cal.
Guess I could have made it easier on myself
She could have married Cal and been guarantied a roof over her head and food in her stomach.
But
I, I could never follow
No I, I could never follow
But if she had lived like that, she may as well have been dead.
Well, I never seem to do it like anybody else
She broke free and was doing things her own way now.
Maybe someday, someday I'm gonna settle down
Someday, she'd find someone she loved and she'd be able to forget about the pain of losing Jack.
If
you ever want to find me I can still be found
Taking the long
way
Taking the long way around
But she would never be tamed, never stop traveling and wondering and wandering.
Taking
the long way
Taking the long way around

Tell me if you liked it. And no, don't just tell me it sucked 'cause it's a country song. That's NOT a substantial reason.
