A/N This is one-shotey type thing dedicated to my friend Essence for helping me out with something!
The forest was eerily quiet, lacking of birdsong and the usual wind that rustled the leaves of the trees and the undergrowth. The barest hint of moonlight threw everything into darkness and shadows, swallowing every blade of grass and each quivering flower. Ominous dark clouds scudded slowly across the midnight blue sky, occasionally covering the tiny sliver of moon suspended there.
Below the canopy of trees, Firestar stalked silently through the undergrowth until he spotted who he was looking for: Brambleclaw. The dark tabby was sitting in a small clearing with his head slightly tilted toward the sky, scenting the air for prey.
Firestar's stomach burned like a dry field sparked by lightning just watching him, his eyes sparkling with rage. This was the cat that had taken Squirrelflight away from him to sun-drown-place and then broken her heart, not to mention his attempt to kill him by the lake shore. Firestar sunk his unsheathed claws into the grass beneath him and shredded it to pieces, imagining it was Brambleclaw's pelt instead.
"Firestar?" Brambleclaw asked, recognizing his leader's scent and turning around to face him. "Why are you here?"
Firestar forced his bristling fur to lay flat before he stepped into the clearing. "I was just taking a walk," Firestar replied in an even and calm voice, betraying none of his anger. "How's the prey running?"
Brambleclaw's ears twitched in disappointment. "I haven't seen so much as a mouse tail out," he answered sadly. "I think they've all burrowed into the ground to escape the storm."
"That's too bad," Firestar mewed regretfully. Brambleclaw's amber eyes watched Firestar intensely, looking so much like Tigerstar's that before he knew what he was doing, Firestar snarled and jumped onto Brambleclaw, pinning him down to the forest floor. He took pleasure in sinking his claws into Brambleclaw's fur, warm, sticky blood spilling out from where his claws dug in.
"Firestar, what are you doing?" Brambleclaw gasped, trying to squirm out of Firestar's rasp, but Firestar only tightened his grip.
"I'm ridding ThunderClan of a dangerous threat," Firestar whispered. "You don't belong here." Brambleclaw's eyes widened in shock as Firestar knelt down and sank his teeth into his enemy's throat. Brambleclaw struggled wildly to break free, but his thrashings became twitched until he lie completely still.
Firestar stood and looked down at his dead deputy, expecting to feel guilt or shame wash over him, but instead he only felt a sickening delight. He had done it; he had killed Brambleclaw…and no one would ever find out.
A/N This is my first one shot type of thing, so sorry if it isn't good. I hope you enjoyed it!
