"Go out with me." A statement, not a question. Hazel eyes boring into her soul. His touch was fire and water and lightning on her hands, and it would have been so easy to give in, to say yes as she had longed to do, ever since he had asked her out that day in third-year. She looked up at his face, emerald eyes searching every line, every contour, seaching for a genuine sign that he loved her as she loved him. She begged herself to give in, but the self assured grin on his face stopped her, warned her.

"No, James. Not if you were the last guy on earth!" She spat, feeling her heart break a little more as the smile left his face, a spark ran though her arms as he clutched his hand tighter. She became aware of the people surrounding them, whispering, taking bets on how long it would take her to give in, as any other girl would. She became aware of how close she was standing to him, how his warm breath stirred in her hair, and how he smelled so warm and comforting.

"Bu, Lilykins. . " He started, and she felt the familliar rush at the affecionate nickname, making he heart skip a beat.

"I said NO!" Yelling this time, she pulled her hands away from his and stormed down the corridor, pushing her way through the surrounding crowd. She needed to run, to get away from him as fast as possible so she couldn't rush back to lose herself in his embrace. Hot tears escaped from her eyes as she ran, and ran, and continued running, not wanting think about the pain she caused him, and how it could never be equal to the pain he caused her.
