Nobody knows how it happened. Perhaps it was a dark and rainy night, in which a random person used a random umbrella to cover of the rain, and they discarded it when they reached their destination. Or maybe that person was attacked by youkai and threw the umbrella away. Life is more important than a single umbrella, isn't it?
In any case, that umbrella of horrible color, poor quality and low resistance, was rocked by the winds for a long, long time. And when the owner of the umbrella had left the world long ago, it opened its eyes. Shivering, abandoned in a dark and dirty place, feeling empty inside. The heavy rain impacted their weak and newborn body, so they took the rickety umbrellas to protect themselves.
From the very moment that touched it, she knew it belonged to her. Or rather, knew it was her.
For a while, she wandered aimlessly, with the only company of its umbrella, hungry, frightened and not knowing where to go.
The first time she ran into a human, she didn't know what to do. She felt within her an irrepressible desire to approach him and surprise him, which she did without hesitation. She walked slowly and silently behind his back, and when she reached his side she screamed.
-BOO!!
The man jumped, terrified. He turned back and when he saw her, he fell to the ground trembling.
He then started to beg for his life. He didn't want to be eaten, he had a wife and children. She tilted her head. She was feeling good for doing that, so she simply walked away, smiling and sticking out her tongue.
For a while, she was feared and she was known as "the Little Umbrella", Kogasa. She decided to adopt that name for herself, and used Tatara as surname.
However, time passed and she stopped being feared. People ignored her. She couldn't surprise people anymore, for some reason.
And the feeling of emptiness reappeared. She decided to read old horror and ghost stories to improve her skills and be the once feared youkai again. Now, she thinks she is ready to scare people again. A new world awaits her, after all these years studying and reading the most terrifying stories. Will be she ready to strike fear once again in the hearts of the humans?
