It's Our Job

Two figures materialize in a young boy's bedroom. It is relatively clean, but reeks of something…strange. Like death. In the bed, a boy of about eight or nine is sleeping, his breath leaving him in ragged gasps.

The female of the two, a pink-haired girl with bunny ears, wearing an elegant white dress, has tears in her eyes as she gazes down at the young boy. The male of the two, a blonde-haired young man with dog ears, wearing a black and yellow suit, has an impassive gaze.

"Do we…have to?" the girl asks softly, nearly choking on the words.

"Yes," comes the bland reply. After a few moments his gaze flickers to the girl, then snaps back to the boy on the bed. "It's our job," he adds a bit awkwardly, sensing the girl's sadness.

"But why?!" The tears are flowing now, falling down her cheeks and falling to the hardwood floor noiselessly.

"It's our job," the dog replies, as the rabbit continues to cry, "because we have committed the sin of suicide."
