[[Disclaimer: No, I don't own Professor Layton. If I did, I would've already have translated Azran Legacies into English. -.-]]
Surely Someday
Surely someday... The auburn haired girl mused as she leant against the window pane, gazing out onto the narrow streets and the quaint houses below. I will leave this little cottage at the top of the tower. She felt like a princess watching over her kingdom; although she wasn't imprisoned high up here, she was waiting for her savoir to arrive.
Someday soon— maybe tomorrow, or the day after that, or perhaps next week— surely someone was going to walk across the drawbridge into St Mystere. However, this newcomer wouldn't just be any old stranger. This person would decipher the puzzles presented to them by the villagers, solve the mystery, and find the Golden Apple.
The girl tried to imagine what this special someone would be like. They'd have to possess the intelligence, surely... Perhaps this person would be a wise traveller from a far away land, or possibly, a famous celebrity. Maybe an author who had described a picturesque village just like St Mystere in a book. An artist searching for inspiration through the countryside. A diligent police officer come to investigate the area. It could be anyone: a school teacher, a doctor, a farmer— oh, or even a gourmet chef!
She wished most of all that a kind couple with no children to call their own would stumble upon the tiny town... But surely, they would never fill the gap left by her parents' deaths. No one can ever replace Papa or Mama.
But what if the outsider was actually an evil villain? And what if they were only after the Reinhold treasure and were prepared to do terrible things in order to claim it? She shuddered. No. Surely that wouldn't happen; the villagers wouldn't let anyone hurt her.
A sombre sigh escaped the young maiden's lips. Surely, she would miss her dear automation companions. They were like a family to her; they loved her and in return she loved each of them with all her heart. She knew they would give anything to make her happy and to protect her. Unfortunately, there was one thing the robots were unable to offer— human company. Bruno cared for her but he was busy tending to his machines, and she didn't like to disturb him very often, after all he had done for her. She promised to write regularly to Bruno, Lady Dahlia, and the other citizens when she departed someday.
Surely her potential guardian would be nice, she assured herself. She would be whisked away from the remote village to start a fresh life; moving to the city, by the beach, or near the mountains. The thought of seeing the wide world someday and meeting so many people was quite daunting.
Would she make new friends? Surely, she hoped was the answer to that. She didn't want to be left all alone again. But, surely her guardian would never abandon her or put her in danger.
Maybe... if she was lucky, she might even find a sweetheart who would always stand by her.
Then when she was older, she would sit back and smile, remembering how she used to dream this way...
...Surely, someday.
[["Surely Someday" sung by Miho Fukuhara, is the name of the beautiful new ending theme for PL6. (Just listening to it made me tear up!) To me, it symbolizes saying farewell to the past... and crossing the bridge to the future. I think it suits Flora too... The professor and Luke are yet to meet her (hence why her name isn't mentioned) and none of them have any idea what the future holds—
Clive: Me. I am the future.
Dang it! Can't I do one sentimental Author's Note without you rudely interrupting?!]]
