First story I've written in which Hermione has her heart broken by Ginny.
Hermione is hollow now. Has been since the day Ginny left.
She knew she should have suspected it from her, she was young, too young in fact, for Hermione to even think about falling in love with. However, Hermione let her guard down, as many do when they find that perfect person, and fell in love with Ginny Weasley.
Everything seemed fine, pretty much perfect. They'd spend endless hours cuddling in hidden corners of the castle, sending secret love notes to eachother during class, and sharing stolen kisses in between classes. They were so in love.
Their parents never thought anything of their relationship when they found out about the two. In fact, they approached the couple first and said,"We are ok with experimenting, in fact, I did a thing or two of that in my day." Mrs. Weasley said. Arthur smiled,"Girls will be girls."
Hermiones parents were just as accepting, taking just a tad more time to find the words that Ginny's father had said so quickly,"Girls will be girls afterall." Mrs. Granger said.
Hermione had begun to notice a change in the red head close to the end of her fifth year. She started becoming distant, making excuses as to why she didn't want to hang out with her in the evenings. Hermione, being the trusting person she was, decided that it couldn't be a bad thing and let it go.
Ginny came to her a few days later,"It's over." She said quietly,"I love you, I really do, but things have to change. I have to move on. It was fun while it lasted." She whispered. She leaned in, touched her soft lips to Hermione's cheek and strode off.
So, it was over, completely and utterly over.
She was broken, crushed. She didn't know anything anymore, it seemed that any sense she had, left when Ginny left the dorm. Hermione spent countless sleepless nights wondering what went wrong, had she done something? She often worried that she did.
She found out a few days later the real reason, Ginny was dating a boy, another fifth year from Ravenclaw, one that Hermione could not place a name to. Hermione put on a brave face, and collapsed when she found the solace of the dorms. She cried into her pillow.
Girls would truly be girls. They'd lie, pretend and then, ever so slowly break your heart.
