Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing

Minerva and Albus are to get married, but Minerva's attention has turned to another man. Will Albus let her go or try to get her back, and how? Rated T for the time being depending on the story plot.

The name of this fanfic 'Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing' is named after Dame Maggie Smith's movie 'Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing' from 1973.

This is set in the 1960's and Minerva, Albus and Daniel are about 30 years old. I've never really written something like this before so hope you enjoy! Reviews please! Thanks!

Albus knelt down in front of Minerva, both hands holding the ring box, ready for Minerva's 'Yes!' to come.

"Oh Albus! I- I don't know what to say!"

"Just say yes, darling."

"But Albus…" Minerva trailed off. She really did love him, but it was all too quick. "Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your days with me, Albus? We are not alike, you and I. I'm work, work, work and you're play, play, play."

"Which is why I love you and want to spend the rest of my days with you." Albus said. "Please say yes, angel? My knees are getting tired."

"Oh, alright." Minerva said. "Yes!"

Albus jumped up, the smile evident on his face. He slid the ring on his fiancée's left ring finger and Minerva watched her finacé with admiration.

Albus picked her up and twirled her around. "Oh, stop it!" Minerva shouted, though she was smiling and laughing. "The students! They're going to see us! We're in the middle of the hall, for goodness sake! "

Albus put her down and said, "This is worth getting found out isn't it?"

"No, it isn't, Al-" Minerva was interrupted by another voice.

"Headmaster." he tilted his head, "Professor McGonagall."

Minerva blushed and Albus let go of Minerva's waist.

"Professor Roberts, such a pleasure to see you here!" Albus exclaimed.

"Call me Daniel, Headmaster."

"Well, goodnight then Daniel. But I insist that you call me Albus, even if you are new to Hogwarts." Albus said.

"Goodnight Albus, Professor McGonagall." Daniel said and he walked away.

When Daniel had gone, Albus chuckled and said, "Daniel is truly a remarkable fellow."

"Yes, I agree. Quite decent." Minerva said, still blushing.

Little did she know that somewhere in her heart, she had started to develop some feelings for Daniel Roberts.
