He closed his eyes, and that's when he saw it.

He stood in the burnt red grass gazing at his burning homeland in the horizon. Tears streamed down his face as the flames cast an amber glow into the already orange skies. The distant cries of his people as they were destroyed rang in his ears. The ash and soot blew off the trees' leaves letting their true silver underneath shine.

His people, his civilization, it was disappearing right before him. The place he grew up, the people he knew, the fields he played in as a child now stained red with bloodshed. The life he once had…. gone in the blink of an eye from a single, simple action.

He opened his eyes but still felt all the loneliness. The cold, unwelcoming metal grate rest under his feet. The soft hum of the TARDIS trying to comfort him. None of it helped.

He kneeled down to sit on the ground, leaning against the TARDIS console. He rested his head between his knees, hands place over his head, and sobbed at the horrific memories plaguing his mind.

He gazed up at the sound of footsteps on the metal grate, eyes bloodshot and stained with tears.

It was his faithful companion that had entered the room to comfort him. She gazed into his ancient eyes with a faint smile, hand on his shoulder to reassure him that everything was going to be alright.

Seeing her smile always brightened his world no matter how bad his darkest hour was. He attempted to return her smile with a grin of his own, but it was one she knew that still had darkness hidden behind it.

But before she could question him any further he jumped up from the ground and ran around the TARDIS console pressing buttons and pulling levers. She couldn't help but giggle as he went about around the console rambling once again about where they were going next, or places that they should go. And she knew, that no matter where they went, time or place, that it was going to be… fantastic.

A/N: This is just a short little oneshot thing that came to mind that I wanted to write. If you couldn't tell, I kinda struggled for an ending, but I think it came out all right.

To sum it up, thank you for reading my story! Review, favorite, both? Do whatever you choose.
