Jor-El held baby Kal-El in his hands, not wanting to let go, but knowing that for the good of all Kryptonians, he had to. A single tear shed and fell onto his son's face as he placed him in his rocket. Right as Jor-El closed the doors, his chamber was broken into. He drew his blaster but was taken aback to see Lara with a large blade through her chest. But he recognized the blade. It was that of a Martian shapeshifter. Lara's body was dropped to the ground to reveal her killer; J'onn J'onzz. Jor-El sighed.
"Hello, J'onn."
"You slaughtered my family, Jor-El. We had an agreement!"
"It was Zod who killed your wife and child, not me!"
J'onn looked conflicted for a second, but then went back to being angry. "Zod is untouchable. You agreed to protect my family from this meaningless war. You didn't. You stood by as they were killed where they stood! Only fair I return the favor."
"You will not step any closer to Kal-El!"
J'onn turned his hands back into blades and lurched forward at Jor-El, who blasted him straight in the chest. Jor then immediately turned around and hit the LAUNCH button on Kal-El's ship. As it launched, J'onn stabbed Jor through the chest.
"My son… will end this war… unite our people…" he said in his dying breaths as he fell to the ground.
"Your people won't be around much longer." J'onn then checked the coordinates for the rocket. "Earth."
"Clark?" Batman's voice knocked Superman out of his daydream and back to reality. "Kent did you hear a word of what I just said?"
Superman turned to him and touched his ear, reminding Bruce of his superhearing. "Of course I heard it, Bruce. I just wasn't paying attention."
Batman scowled. "People are taking the Registration Act seriously. Luthor's already got heroes signing up to work for him."
Superman couldn't help but chuckle. "Alright, if you call sellouts like Green Arrow and teenagers like Blue Beetle 'heroes', then I guess they are doing something right."
"This isn't a joke, Clark! They were powerful enough to tear up the Justice League, what makes you think this won't last?"
"Because none of the big guns are gonna sign up."
"Please inform me as to who you consider the big guns."
"Oh, come on, Bruce. It's obvious! The people like you, me, or Diana, or that new Green Lantern." Argued Superman.
"Diana's been on Themyscira for the past two and a half years."
"She was still a member of the Justice League."
"So were Hal and Barry." Retorted Batman.
"That's not fair."
"No, it's not. None of this is." Said Batman, beginning to walk back into the shadows. However, he turned to look at Superman one last time. "This Act is finally going to expose us for what we are."
"We're heroes, Bruce."
Batman smirked. "We're criminals, Clark." And with that, the Batman disappeared.
