Crap, the first one i accidentally posted a chapter from Elementalist, whoops. Here's the real thing.
The first thing Annabeth wanted to do when she got home was collapse into bed. After finishing her graveyard shift at the bookstore (it's amazing how many people want to buy books after eleven o'clock) she was absolutely exhausted.
I can finally get some sleep she thought as she unlocked her apartment. Letting out a huge yawn, Annabeth dropped her bag by the door. Just before falling into a daze, she heard a noise. Subtle, but a noise. Carefully grabbing her umbrella from by the door, Annabeth snuck into the room where she could have sworn the noise came from. There it was again. Raising the umbrella above her head in attack position, the blonde flipped on the lights.
"Huh? Nico, s'at you?" A tired voice slurred. A man sat up on the couch, his black hair sticking up all over the place. He squinted through the bright light. "Uh oh, you're not Nico." Annabeth was too shocked to whack him. Actually, upon closer inspection, Annabeth realized that he was probably still in college. He was shirtless, and a little taller than she was. He smelled like alcohol. "Hey, uh...are you alright?" He asked, snapping his fingers in front of Annabeth.
Quickly, Annabeth realized her mouth was dangling open. Snapping it shut, she also realized that she hadn't said a word.
"You drool in your sleep." Came out of her traitorous mouth before she could think. The man raised his eyebrows.
"Ok...not exactly what I was expecting." He said. The situation finally came to light in Annabeth's eyes. Cursing herself for not taking care of him before, she grabbed the umbrella with both hands and swung it like a club, straight at the man's head. His green eyes dulled as he fell to the floor with a heavy clunk. A low moan came from him.
"Who are you, and what are you doing in my apartment?" She asked dangerously
"I-I'm sorry, I guess I accidentally broke into your apartment because I think my friend lives next door to you and I was in the area, drunk, and I thought I was climbing into the right window and falling asleep on the right couch, and I did wonder when he got a cat but I didn't question it so now I'm hungover and shirtless in your living room so um hi howya doin?" The man babbled. He clutched his head and stood up. "Man, you really know how to take someone down." Annabeth raised her weapon threatenly and the man held out his hands as a sign of peace.
"You still haven't told me who you are." She growled.
"Oh! Right, I'm Percy Jackson." Percy held out a hand. Annabeth stared at it until Percy dropped it at his side. He gulped. "Well, I think I've overstayed my welcome. I'd better go." He tugged on a sweatshirt that he had apparently tossed into the corner.
"You said you're looking for Nico?" Annabeth asked. "None of my neighbors are named Nico."
"You sure?" He panted, squinting at her. "Not even one that's short, kinda pale, long dark hair, always wears black?" Annabeth shook her head.
"I guess you better crash here. It's four in the morning, I can let you wander the city with a clean conscious." Annabeth said reluctantly. Percy perked up.
"You sure? I'll leave first thing, alright." He promised. Already, Percy looked like he was about to collapse. Almost like he was in a trance, he climbed back onto the couch and fell asleep almost immediately.
Shooting one last glance at him, Annabeth walked out, gently flipping the light switch off. Not exactly what I was expecting, is he.
Hey, I'm not dead!
For all of you following Elementalist, I apologize for being a crappy updater. For those of you who write your own stuff, you know how much writers block stinks. This is just a one shot prompt I found on tumblr, so enjoy!
