Prologue: Life so far…

Desert sands and scorching blaze heat the vast reaches of the dunes cascading upon the horizon of the sunset. The twin moons shone above in a glorious white glow, welcoming the night sky and its stars. It has not been long for the quiet of the desert to subside as winds blew gently through the fleeting event of day into night. The sands continued to pick up into the leisurely ride over great dunes.

A small dwelling stood among such natural environs. Within its accommodating comforts a resident constantly tinkers endlessly on a gadget of plenty. Chrysanthemum sat by her table, intensely staring and picking away at a motor. Her dark hair glimmered against the light from the fireplace that roared quietly from within the furnace. Everywhere was silent except for the winds blowing outside and the constant clanks from Chrys' fiddling. Beside her laid a large beast, a machine lying upon its legs in slumber. The light from the dancing fire shone a glossy sheen across its back, glistening with a wax coat. It raised its head towards its master, staring endlessly with its glass eyes.

"Yes!" Chrys cried, holding her piece before her. She turned to face this creature, now standing upright on its hind legs as it continued to look up at her. "What do you think Oz? Ready to try it out?"

Oz barked in its mechanic buzz with its tail wagging side to side slowly. It stood on its legs and made way for the motor in Chrys' hands. She lowered towards her pet, kneeling beside its mechanic shell and opened a hatch above its body. Many mechanisms were wired and twisted inside of the body, every time mystifying Chrys' belief of what she saw inside this creation of hers.

"All right boy," she reassured. "I just need to switch you off for a while." She looked towards the large mecha canine. "It will all be over soon. You okay with that, Oz?"

Oz, complying with her orders, shut down his systems with the engine whirring to a halt. Silence reigned through once more as Chrys began to install a new contraption. She smiled to herself as she began disconnecting and reconnecting many different wires and systems.

It's been so long, huh? she thought as she worked on her miniature Zoid, picking it apart piece by piece. "I would never believe you could end up being this way." She smiled to herself while she examined many pieces of obsolete machinery from inside. Amongst it all, her memories flooded back and all the more she continued to reflect on these as she worked. The Zoid itself stood tall patiently awaiting its awakening with new gear.

"He would be proud of me."
