Okay, this has been bugging me to be written for a while. Just a short songfic about Alex and her sister. The song is My Sister, My Friend, by Reba McEntire. Enjoy, and please review!
Disclaimer: They ain't mine. Dang it.
This story is for my little sister, and everyone out there who has a sister.
Alex Eames walked picked up her phone and plopped down onto her couch, dialing a familiar number. The phone rang several times before going to her voicemail, and she sighed and said, "Hey, sis, it's me. Just calling to say hi, so call me when you get this." She paused for a moment.
"I know it's been a while, but I've been pretty busy, and it's been really crazy. Make sure you give the boys a hug and a kiss for me, and tell them I miss them. And I miss you too."
Hey, girl it's me, I just called to tell you hi
Call me when you get this
Haven't talked lately, so hard to find the time
Give the boys a big kiss
Tell them that I miss them
By the way, I miss you too
"I just got to thinking the other day, about when we were kids. Remember? Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth?" She laughed.
"Everything was so much simpler then, wasn't it? We'd play with our Barbies and Mom's make up. We used to get into so much trouble for that. Ah, those really were the days, weren't they?"
I was thinking yesterday
About how we used to play
Barbie Dolls and make up
Tea parties, dress up
I remember how we'd fight
Then make up and laugh all night
Wish we were kids again
My sister, my friend
Her eye caught a glimpse of a picture of Bobby, and she smiled widely. "Oh yeah, sis, I've got some news. I've got a new boyfriend. Amazing, huh? His name's Bobby, and he's… pretty special. Yeah, I really think he's a keeper. Do you think Mom and Dad would mind if I brought him home for Christmas this year to meet everyone?"
Oh yeah, before I forget I met someone
I think I really like him
I was just wondering if I'm jumping the gun
By going out on a limb
And invite him home for Christmas
To meet the family
"It seems like it was just yesterday when you brought home that guy for Christmas dinner. Oh, what was his name? You know, he was drunk, and he passed out after dessert. God, what were you thinking, kid? Oh well."
Seems like just yesterday
You brought home, oh what's his name?
He had been drinking
What were you thinking?
After dinner, he passed out
We can laugh about it now
Cause we've learned a lot since then
My sister, my friend
She paused again for a second. "Hey, do you think you could come by and hang out sometime soon? I miss you, and I'd love to see you. We could just sit around and talk, or maybe go out and have lunch."
Do you think you could come by and see me sometime soon?
We could just hang out like we used to
Realizing how late it was, Alex ran her hand through her hair and said, "It's getting pretty late, so I guess I should let you go. But before I do, I just wanted to say I love you, sis. I know I don't say it nearly enough, but I do. Even though we've had our bad times, I'd do it all again. So, call me when you get this, okay kid? Good night." She hung up the phone with a smile.
It's late and I should go
But I can't hang up the phone
Until I tell you what I don't tell you enough
Even though at times, it seems
We were more like enemies
I'd do it all again
My sister, my friend
My sister, my friend
The End
A/N: So, what do ya'll think, bunnies? Okay, now I'm off to update some more of the angsty stuff... (scurries away)
