Belle looked out her window. The stars were shining brightly. She noticed one whizz pass.
"Papa!" she cried. "Did you see that?"
Maurice got up from working on his invention and looked out the window.
"I think you've just seen a shooting star, Belle," he said.
"What is a wishing star, Papa?"
"You can make any wish you want on it to make it come true. But don't tell anyone. Keep it to yourself."
As soon as he went back to his invention, Belle wished for a long time until she made it. I wish for an adventure to come to me if written down. I want much more than this provincial life.
The Enchantress thought about the curse she had put on that greedy prince, when she heard the voice of Belle from down below.
The next morning, she woke up to find a few sheiets of paper on her study table. She also noticed a bottle of golden ink. She asked her father if she got if for her. When he said no, she began to wonder, but it slowly faded away as she got the idea of writing a story. A story she would keep to herself and her father. Not to show to anyone, the baker, the Bimbettes, not even that arrogant, conceited Gaston.
She sat down and began to write.
There once was a girl called Belle. Her father was a famous inventor. Due to his success, they had everything they desired. Belle didn't need anything for she only had her beloved books. That was enough. Once day, she wandered into a beautiful forest in search for adventure. She spotted a fairy in an emerald green dress. She followed it to a magnificent castle. She imagined maybe a beautiful Princess or a handsome Prince would live there. When she knocked on the door, it was answered by a vicious monster. Belle was frightened at first, but she could see sorrow in his eyes. She was wise enough to know that you should never judge someone or something by its look. Lions and bears may look vicious and are said to east people, but it may not always be that way. It would probably want to be friends with a human being. Belle asked why the monster was so sad. He answered that he is so vicious that he is ashamed to step outside to look at anyone or anything. The girl told him that beauty is only found within. He also told her that he acts like an animal at times and wants to be like a human. Belle was only too glad to help him fit in, as she ridiculed for her love of book and for being a daughter of a genius inventor. She taught him to read and write and to eat like a human. She taught him how to show that he is friendly by raising his finger to a singing bird and to protect rabbits from snares. One day, the monster told Belle that he feels he has learned enough to act like a human and wants to meet everyone. At that moment, his monstrous form melted to reveal a handsome young boy. Even though they had recently met, they were too much in love. They decided to get married when they were older, and the children they would have, they would teach them the same things Belle taught the former monster.
That night when Belle lay asleep, that star she wished upon shoot into her room and the Enchantress looked at her pages. From what she read, she saw hope for the selfish Prince, after all. The wish would soon be granted… But only when the time comes.
