He was a bumbling idiot and everyone knew. So when he was tasked to go find Robin to give her a birthday gift he was absolutely lost as to what to give her. Lissa had given her a fruit tart, but only with the help of Gaius and Cordelia. Gaius gave her a lollipop, which was saying a lot since it was from his stash. Sumia had given her a flower crown. Tharja gave her a ring that would protect her from any hexes (that weren't from her). Frederick went out and bought her a book she's been eager to read. Even Ricken managed to make her a new wooden training sword. Basically, everyone gave her something for her birthday besides him.

After much help from his female friends (and Frederick), he managed to find her a bracelet.

Turns out, trying to give it to her was the problem. Was it because he forgot her birthday that he was nervous? It couldn't be. He forgot more birthdays than he'd like to... but he never felt nervous like he did now. She was around every corner, but his body would pull him against the nearest solid mass, like a wall, or a barrel, as well as the occasional Frederick. He was currently crouching next to a weapons crate.
As he was contemplating his reason for avoiding her so suddenly he fell into his own void where no outsider could disturb him in his thoughts. Until the person on his mind appeared right before him.

"Chrom? Where have you been bouncing around?" she asked as she leaned down, her hair falling in front of her face, his hand reached to sweep it away from her face.
He scolded himself when said hand fell back limply to his side. Running a frustrated hand through his hair he said, "I was going to give you your birthday gift, but something makes me fall short every time."
She looked at him questionably, but smiled nonetheless. "It would've been fine if you forgot either way. It's not like it's really my birthday after all. It's the day you and Lissa found me in that field remember?" Her false grin faltered at the mention of not remembering facts about herself.
Chrom caught the look on her face, and he never liked it when she forced herself. "Don't think of it like that, Robin. Think of it like this: That day I-we met you, was the day of your rebirth. You probably weren't a war veteran that gained the trust of thousands, so this is like a second life for you."

The smile slipped off her face, slowly replaced with a look of wonder. After a few moments she gave him the most genuine and beautiful smile he had ever seen. "I suppose that is one way to look at it," she said. The moment was short-lived when they heard Cherche call for her. After alerting the Wyvern Lord of her location she extended her hand down to him. Looking at her outstretched hand, he stared at it for a moment, feeling like he forgot something.

"Your present!" he shouted, startling the both of them. He dug through his pouch to pull out the familiar object. The bracelet was a plaited leather strap studded with multiple gems, seeing as though a beaded one would simply break in her daily activities. It was also something that didn't break the prince's coinbag, so that was a bonus. But now that he looked at it he felt that it was pretty stupid of him to get her something so simple, especially since she probably didn't want something like this to hinder her in battle.
Robin on the other hand looked down at the prince with amazement. She didn't really have anything nice or even remotely feminine to keep close to her. It reminded her of a vague memory she gained a while back, but now wasn't the time for such thoughts.
She wrapped her fingers around the strap, twirling around her fingers before snapping it on, a perfect fit for her wrist. "Thank you, Chrom. I'll cherish it," she smiled once more, but it was softer, gentler, laced with something unreadable that made the man's pulse race.

"Robin!" Cherche called once more. Robin straightened herself and started to head to the pink-haired woman's voice. Before she did though, she turned around once more, fiddling with the bracelet.
"There are better places to rest than the ground, milord," and with that she finally met up with Cherche.

And on that day, Prince Chrom of Ylisse learned that he had it bad for the army's Grandmaster Tactitian.

Shit.

Chapter One is up! Finally. I've been working on this for quite sometime now. It was like a sentence a week or something like that.
