Katie frowned at the sight in front of her. She had warned Trip pulling another all-nighter was a bad idea, but he was being stubborn. Again.
This is what you get for falling for someone two steps away from becoming a mad scientist. Katie debated shaking him awake... but she couldn't. Not when his head was resting on the keyboard, looking as peaceful as someone in his position could.
So she decided to try another approach for now. But if she found him like this next time... not even Trip's peaceful face could save him.

Trip yawned as he worked out the cricks in his neck-- he had meant to go to bed, really, but then he'd had a brainstorm, and well...
It was around then that he noticed the breakfast next to his console... and the note. Trip felt a flash of guilt; it had to have been Katie. She was the only one he knew in this century who still used paper for everyday things like notes.
"I figured you'd wake up hungry, since you missed dinner last night," he read out loud. "But don't think I'm condoning your behavior-- I'm just letting it slide this once. Next time you try this, I'm carrying you home. Love, Katie."
A strange mix of guilt and gratefulness hit him. He'd gotten so into his work, he'd completely forgotten that there was another person affected by this as well...
Trip grabbed the food as he left. He could eat on his way back, and he had been away from home far too long.
