Sam grinned with tears in her eyes. Carly set a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Sam's world was ending. She never thought that this day would come.
They were in an accident; she got away fine, a cut above her right eye and a split lip. Carly was the same, a cut that went down her cheek and might scar and some bruises, but nothing major. But Freddie, oh Gah, Freddie was impaled. She could still hear the screeching of the tires. The driver was drunk, skidding when he ran a red light, slamming into the front of their car.
Sam and Freddie had been dating on and off for the past few years and have been contemplating marriage, but that would never happen. Sam wiped away her tears and turned to Spencer.
"Call a priest, have him here pronto." Sam commanded before taking Carly's arm and pulling her to the gift shop.
Thirty minutes later had Sam pushing her way into Freddie's room, the Doctor gave her a sympathetic look that made Sam cringe.
"Hey Fredward." Sam greeted him as she got closer. He looked so pale, hooked up to the multiple devices. He smiled weakly and tried to lift his fingers. Sam's hear broke. She got to her knees and got as close to him as she dared.
"I know that this is unconventional." She chuckled, she knew what he was thinking, 'Such a big word, did you get ahold of a dictionary?' "But then, we are pretty unconventional. Fredward Benson, Will you marry me? Right here, right now?" She looked him right in the eyes. Freddie's eye's filled with tears, he knew he what she was thinking. He nodded.
"Come in, Quickly!" Sam called out. Carly, Spencer, the Doctor, and a Priest entered. Freddie's mom was right behind them, a tissue held to her nose.
Sam didn't pay much attention to the ceremony, too busy trying to relay all her emotions to the man she came to love. Carly handed her the ring she bought in the gift shop. It was plastic, but perfect for what she needed.
She couldn't remember much of what happened, her mind was focused on Freddie, his hand was warm, but just barely, his hair was sticking to his forehead, you could see the pain he was in even though he tried to hide it.
"Do you Fredward Benson Take this woman to be your Bride?" The priest asked a bit loudly. Freddie clenched his eyes closed tightly before nodding. He opened his eyes and met Sam's gaze.
"And do you Samantha Pucket Take this man to be your Husband?" Sam didn't look away from Freddie while nodding, "I Do." She said, her voice hoarse.
"I now pronounce you man and Wife."
Sam leaned forward and kissed him softly. Freddie smiled softly, his eyes going unfocused, the beeping got louder, faster, until it was just one long beep. Sam was pushed away from Freddie's bedside and was pulled out of the room by a hysterical Melissa Benson. The two women held onto each other, Mellissa bawling her eyes out, and Sam in a state of shock.
"FREDDIE!" Sam woke with a start, her heart pounding and sweat pouring down her face.
"Shhh, Sam, I'm here." And there was Freddie, sitting up beside her in their shared bed.
"It was just a nightmare." He hugged her from behind. She sunk into his embrace and took deep breaths.
"Was it about that day?" Freddie asked in a whisper. His breath tickled her ear. She shifted until she had her head comfortably on his chest; the two were now laying back on their bed.
"Worst day of my life." Sam muttered. Freddie sighed and started to card his hand through her hair. Sam started to drift off, her gaze going to the dresser and she caught sight of a small golden ring. She grinned before darkness overtook her.
